There’s literally a Black Mirror episode about this

I feel like my AI copy would pull a Nina’s mom and just say, “I want to die,” before shutting down.

Grief takes many forms, but this ain’t healthy for a multitude of reasons.

If this isn’t a joke, I sincerely hope OP gets real help.

It’s so fucking sad, but my dude here (assuming a dude) should accept the reality of death.

Entire cyberpunk2077 is about that. No one gets out alive.

The universe is cruel and indifferent.

I hope they got to make enough memories for a life time.

Episode of person of interest I think it was as well.

I’m gonna have to Google as I know I’ve seen an episode that was exactly this recently but not 200% sure it was POI

Man had a chatbot of his dead wife but it’s become sentient or something all g those lines ending of the episode he’s in a server room trying to upload her but gets stopped and he shoots himself rather than be without her.

This is a pretty interesting topic, honestly. I saw some things already being done in VR with the loved ones. I mean, a flat picture is one thing. But a VR headset lets you have a proper recreation of a person, that you can look from any angle, with full proper sense of scale and depth perception. Like they’re really there. And depending on fidelity of the source material, the result is photorealistic.

Potentially it’s a game changer. My grandfather passed away when I was young. I have vague memories, but not really a firm image. He was already on his way out when my memories were just starting to kick in. I remember remarkably bony knees, but not really a face. And my younger brother just has no memory at all. Would have been really neat to have a full 3D model in VR, at various ages. Pictures are one thing, but they’re flat and limited. But a full detailed scan possible today is potentially scalable and much more useful. We can do a scan today that is so detailed that many generations later people can still view it and it would be pretty close to what you’d see in person.

And this already exists. Scanning and VR headsets. Stacking an AI on top to drive the model is just a logical next step.

We can start with pets. My cat died several years ago and I miss him. And I have a VR headset capable of color passthrough (you can see the real world around you, but it can have virtual objects seamlessly blended into it). I’d love to have an AI driven virtual cat that looks exactly like my old cat. My VR headset already has the ability to scan the room, find the floor, walls, furniture. Just gotta teach the AI to traverse the furniture naturally, and add occlusion (so that the virtual cat is properly hidden behind real furniture) and then we’d be cooking. Occlusion tech already exists too, but it’s still really new and I don’t think much has been done with it yet, but the bones are there: [https://youtu.be/PlGeQhae2zo?si=AS8W_HrXmlTmokMB](https://youtu.be/PlGeQhae2zo?si=AS8W_HrXmlTmokMB)

“Have you considered using our Secure Your Soul-Service?”

There’s also a story kinda similar to this in one of the mission books, Tales of the Red, for the Cyberpunk Red TTRPG. Agents of Desire, I believe, is the name of it.

A few months ago finished the Neuromancer books saga, this concept as futuristic as it seem has been in the mind of humans for a long time, how to reach inmortality, and everyday seem to be more plausible than the day before.

Someone actually did this – took a dead friend’s social media, emails etc and trained a bot on it so they could “talk to them”. They went on to launch ‘Replika’ based on that project 🤷

If you have cancer in the states seek out a clinic in Europe or Mexico City that both specializes in that cancer AND uses combined treatments. The states medical system when it comes to cancer is completely fucked

This honestly breaks my heart. I lost a long term partner to suicide and I’m glad these tools didn’t exist when that happened. I think I’d still be wallowing in it today tbh
