Just traded my MacBook Air for a gaming PC… did I make the right choice?

I just traded my 2020 MacBook Air M1 for a gaming PC with the specs listed in the picture. I am brand new to PC’s and have no idea what a good gaming PC looks like but I made the trade and want to know if it was the right decision. I know it’s a matter of opinion and what I will be using it for but just in general I want to know if I made the right choice or if I screwed myself.

Hello CesarSnaps, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!

To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!

Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

This kind of PC is something I’d trade a 2014 MacBook air for, not an m1. You might be able to play some games reasonably OK but most newer titles are off the table

  3. That PC is worth about $100 at most. You can take that and judge it for yourself

You got scammed hard. Next time do your research and ask BEFORE the fact and not after.

Ouch. You got graped. Your Mac was worth $350+ and this PC is ewaste. I recommend asking here prior to making a trade/purchase next time.

  6. I am begging you, please let this be a troll post.

It’s not a matter of opinion in this case, you traded your mac for ewaste, not a gaming PC. The mac can’t even run most games and it’s still a better gaming machine than this.

  7. DDR3 hasn’t been relevant for over a decade.

FX 3800 is from 2009 with GDDR3. We are on 6 now.

Not even going to touch the MB.

You might be able to play Tetris on low settings

Oh my God. This has to be a troll post. If it isn’t, you’ve been royally screwed here. You’ve literally swapped a decent Mac for someone’s ewaste.

This is not “Rage Bait”, I made the mistake of going through with this trade before doing the research and I’m pissed and kicking myself in the ass over it… however… would I have been able to get a gaming PC better than this for what I traded? I think I could sell the MacBook for $350-$400 from what I’ve seen online. Would that get me anywhere near a decent gaming PC? Or at least better than what I got?

I could have built a better pc for you with my spare parts and could have used that MacBook Air for traveling purposes… this is well… just crazy.

I appreciate the feedback, I’ll just turn this L into a lesson and see if I can upgrade things on this build little by little

  13. Dog, why do people keep on asking AFTER they fucked up. How hard is it to ask for advice before you get shafted?!?!

  14. Protoned11

Please tell me this isn’t serious. You traded a decently powerful, valuable macbook for a $100 computer. You just got scammed.

That “gaming” pc isn’t even close to being able to play games. Do a little research before making bad decisions like these.
