“You’ll own nothing and be happy about it”

  2. georgioslambros

Still not clear enough. It should say a “revocable license”

  3. AvidThinkpadEnjoyer

I haven’t gotten this message yet ? is it only limited to specific countries ?

    Thanks in advance

Edit: People are downvoting me for not knowing something, and I asked people here…. come on, people. You know better than this

  4. Regrettably_Southpaw

You can still play it so 🤷‍♂️

  5. Intelligent-Cow93

thats okay because I know where i can get over half of the games for free.
emulators. why pay over 40$ resident evil 2 remake when i can get the original for free ?
    or mw2 2009
why pay 25$ for that when i can play it on a ps3 emulator.
same for all of the resident evil classics and other playstation classics they release.

I mean I guess they’re just stating more plainly what has been the case for years.

If you’re not happy with that, GOG is always an option.

Thanks to my bf, my eastern european pirate ass fell this “you’ll own nothing and be happy” trap since last 2 years. I didn’t even have Steam account before 😭😭.

Maybe now that’ll sink in in gamers’ heads. LOL who am I kidding.

  9. TheRealTormDK

We never did, so can’t be news to people – but I’m glad it’s made more apparent in case people had the idea that they indeed did own something.

Do you think now we’ll stop getting people being flabbergasted when they learn something that has been a universal fact for 20+ years?

Well, I’m positive ***Steam*** (specifically) isn’t going anywhere any time soon, so I don’t really care.

I mean this is basically what it means when you don’t have a hard copy anyway

  13. NomadicWorldCitizen

I knew I should have started collecting games on GOG. Seriously, I’m gonna write down my username and password in my will.

  14. HopeBudget3358

But I want a copy of the game, not a license

  15. Careless-Midnight-63

Glad I don’t waste my money on “buying” games.

  16. kphamtom

so if buying does not mean owning. can they still call piracy stealing from the company?

  17. gurugabrielpradipaka

I had more than 100 games on Steam but now I have none.
