For every Stardew Valley or Binding of Issac, there are tens of thousands of failed indie games, and boatloads of shovelware they’re trying to push.
It’s not like both sides don’t have their issues.

Probably because bigger game companies have shareholders and lots of upper management that only try to squeeze for profits rather than focusing on actually decent games. If people keep buying them and investing in their MCTs then they will keep doing it and I don’t blame them. I would do the same.

i don’t really get the “can’t compete” …
like i understand that indie games are on a good streak recently with banger titles. but you’re quite delusional if you think that has anything to do with the AAA companies.
and the fact that they can keep pumping identical games means that there are people who pay. so why bother changing?

AAA gaming companies just don’t like taking risks, so they want to pump out the same game every year. Same thing is happening with movies lmao.
