I have used Shields since MW2019 and always find it funny when someone mag dumps tries to reload and gets killed. I understand how annoying "those" riot shielders are but, shields in general are not bad in my opinion. Many people I have complain to me don't change their loadout or play style, they just complain.

Because it’s just another annoying thing in the game that wastes everyone’s time. Shields truly have no place in the game and never did. They’re just a meme weapon.
Shields are an uncommon tool with a handful of counters that make trying to play against a player using one incredibly unfun. Like my response to seeing a player using a riot shield isn’t “omg, that’s so OP how will I ever beat it!” it’s, “Jesus fucking Christ, guess I gotta switch to semtex grenades for the rest of this match!” and that isn’t fun. I shouldn’t feel like I have to adopt very specific weapons and equipment just because one player has decided they want to get a .25 K/D in a match using an incredibly inefficient and annoying weapon that only ever shows up very infrequently to catch me off guard without the necessary counter equipment once every 10-15 matches or so.
And btw it isn’t like using a riot shield doesn’t take skill, if you want to be competitive with the weapon you do need to take some time learning to pay attention to when you get the opportunity to close distance and bash your opponent (or use a throwing knife). It just takes a lot less time to learn than using most other more traditional weapons where you still have to pay attention to what your opponent is doing while still knowing what you need to do with your weapon to be good.
