So tired of this goddamn engine. Is this best the gaming industry can do now?

    in complete fairness to Epic/Unreal…

    Its the devs.

Its the shader compilation that does it 90% of the time, and its the devs being lazy assclowns that causes it on PC ports because on console, the shaders only have to be compiled once, and MAYBE recompiled if the game gets a major patch or there is a major update to the console’s OS that changes the GPU driver.

And then once its done, its done.

On PC, they have to recompile FAR more often (especially if you keep your GPU drivers up to date) and its what causes the stuttery mess, in most cases.

there’s a very easy toggle in the engine to just force shader compilation on launch. But since it really isn’t needed on Console and they dont want to get whined at about “long load times” (as it can make the first boot after an update quite long) they just dont use it.

There was a way to force-enable it in some of the games that didnt use it and it was like a night and day thing. (I want to say it was Tina Tina’s).

The stutter in Immortals of Aveum is legitimately unplayable, seems to be an issue on Nvidia GPUs.

It feels like PC games nowadays are built around RTX 4070 and higher teir GPUs. If you have any weaker config, you’re gonna be enjoying a stuttery mess.

But don’t you want RAY-TRACING and BLUR and GRAPHICS?

Same thing, but without the need of DLSS on every game coming out now because the devs cant, or wont, optimize for shit because of executives pushing for cost cutting, or a rushed release date.

I rarely get stutters except on the first launch but I’d be real happy to get a new game that doesn’t have its visuals ruined by temporal AA (and UE5 often does that too). Hate that trend more than anything, no point in RT or all the other bells and whistles when your game looks like it renders at 70% of its supposed resolution without any upscaling
