I think it’s insane how effective Opera’s marketing campaign has been. Opera had very small market share even 5 years ago. Now all of a sudden it’s the cool kid’s browser I guess.

I’d want to use it but I hate the edgy theme and that damn aweful splash screen with sound every start and if you delete that file it returns every update which is like once a week

same , when i finally had 32 gb i stopped caring , and even before when i had 8 and 16 throughout the years i never installed opera, i will never sell my data for an extra 3% improvement in performance , no thank you all i do is coding for my job and play minecraft , thats it i dont need the 3%

I have 32GB and Firefox regularly uses >16 with how many tabs I have, I want this feature

Yeaaah, you can limit RAM and CPU, I tried for a while
The limits works as intented, if you limit to 5% CPU and 2GB of ram, it will cap on that, BUT, it will slow to a crawl, it will feel like the days we had dial up at 56kpbs, with the page rendering 3 lines at a time, rendering the browser almost unusable, making the limits themselves unusable as well
If you have a very old/slow machine, something with a quad core and 8GB of ram, sure, the limits may leave the rest of your PC working, but for any thing built with parts from the last 5 years and 16gb of ram? nah, let your OS handle it, its nor worth th hassle

Vivaldi main. I have too many tabs, workspaces is incredible. There are similar solutions for Firefox, but they feel a lot more janky.

As someone who uses Opera I can confirm it’s shit, it’s the browser someone else downloaded for me and I just didn’t care enough to switch to Chrome or Firefox
