Personally, I believe that Janus is the name of his late wife (idk if that’s been confirmed or not) and the whole project is to somehow travel across the Dark Aether to potentially reunite with a different, yet near identical, version of his wife and son. I think that this would be the only way we could ever see the old crew return. As different, yet highly similar to our OG cast. Variants, if you will.
I have also heard the name ‘Janus’ is a mythological God, so that could bring up Vanguard’s use of the Gods that reside in the Dark Aether. Maybe Eddie has been corrupted but remains sane? I’m really not sure.
