That’s a shayme, censorship can ruin artistry.

  2. No one in their right mind should be happy with censorship.

I feel like I just don’t understand what people get so inflamed about here. Like wearing spats under your bikini armor isn’t “censorship”. And they acknowledge they could go without it, they would just need to increase the age rating. This game and original art over 35 years old, I’m not surprised that attitudes across countries in regards to what is and isn’t age appropriate have grown.

I love how he called the USA a ridiculous country. And he is right.

    >“Doing business with a ridiculous country like this is such a hassle,” Torishima said. “Coming from this, Japan gets negatively influenced as well.”

    >Later in the interview the controversial change to remove gendered language from the remake was brought up, in which the game removed “male” and “female” pronouns and replaced them with “Appearance A” and “Appearance B” instead.

    >“In Dragon Quest, you used to be able to choose between a male and female protagonist,” Horii said. “But now you can’t choose between a man and a woman anymore.”

    >Horii added, “We have to call them Type 1 and Type 2. I truly wonder who is even complaining about this?”

Why the terms “male” and “female” became problematic, is beyond me. The U.S and their gender issues contaminating the rest of the world.

They could be offering a manual patch for those that want to revert to original not censored state. Why not?

I mean theres also restriction breeds creativity philosophy but yeah… Most of the time, I dont like censorship

  9. Oh no, probably a millionaire at this point has now more money than ever before and that affects their ability to create barely disguised fetishes more freely. Wow, changing words from male/female to type 1/2 a/b is very hard.

Changing a word does not affect your artistic freedom at all. You can make whatever you want still. It doesn’t even affects gameplay and narrative in fact.

Reading the article, it’s making a big deal of nothing. Obviously the publisher would rather sell a game without hassle from the ESRB, if you need to jerk off to pixel art, there’s Deviant Art. There are always cultural differences, like in Japan manga with graphic child sexual abuse is basically a gray area, but it’s very illegal in the west. Is that censorship you need to defend too?
