Devs were already comfortable skipping or delaying Xbox because it sold poorly and takes the most time effort and money forcing devs to make 2 different versions for 2 dfferent consoles just to acess the smallest userbase encouraged by gamepass not to buy games. Seeing games like Wukong and Helldivers 2 hit 20 million so fast with just PS5 and PC will only reinforce and justify this mentality for devs. A Phantom Blade 0 dev allegedly said “nobody needs Xbox because the console isnt popular in Asia and Microsoft has created a overloaded ecosystem that is difficult to develop for”.

Black Myth Wukong(delay), Phantom Blade 0, Baldurs Gate 3, Genshin Impact(years delay), Monster Hunter Stories, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, Lego Horizon, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact, etc etc theres more too

All of these games skipped Xbox with no incentive like a exclusivity deal

This is an absolutely insane number… Most games can only dream of selling 20 million units, and the ones that do often take years to reach that milestone. If Black Myth continues to sell like this, it could go down as one of the highest selling games of all time.

Man 20 million is an insane number especially for a studios first game! The game is what people wanted and they for sure delivered, im sorry xbox bros

The Chinese market is no joke. This is why, for better or worse, a lot of international industries, not just the US, try their best in things like movies for example to appeal to the Chinese market. You get Black Myth: Wukong numbers.

Don’t know why so many people were against this game. It’s visually beautiful, the soundtrack is better than any hollywood soundtrack this year. Voice acting is top notch, beautiful story woven into an ancient myth. I learned a lot about the Chinese’s myth and culture from this game. It’s everything that Assassin’s Creed game claimed to be. A beautiful story that respects the culture of where it’s placed and yet the people who are defending Assassin’s Creed seem to be the biggest haters of this game.

It’s probably only beaten by Hogwarts Legacy (yet), going to be at least 40m lifetime sales

Dang thats a really strong number.
Do we have any idea how many of those sales are Chinese and how many are Western?
I am curious about that split, considering the fabricated hate Wukong got on some gaming sites and how big of a hit it seems to be in China.

“Single player games don’t fare well today, live service multiplayer games are the future.”
-Every clueless gaming CEO about to tank their company

  9. And now every company will mimic Sonys efforts in China

Big W for gaming. A reminder, this is basically an indie studio and the game costs less than most other AAA games, yet it’s quality is easily on par with them.

  11. Can somebody tell me exactly….why? It looks like just another souls clone with Chinese mythology. The general reviews aren’t even that amazing. It just seems like it got hyped up so much for some reason I can’t figure out.

Its a good ass mf game. They put more effort into this title than the large majority of games that were released in the last 10+ years. All sales well deserved, and the crew in charge of this game is talented af. And that’s coming from a Korean/Chinese game hater, but China has finally released its first good game, while Korea still hasn’t launched anything good.
