FEEDBACK WANTED – ESL Pro League Season 20

Hey There!

EPL Season 20 marks our 5th Season in Malta and the 4th iteration of our Counter Strike Network theme. These last three weeks were jam packed with skits, presentations, high action games, and lots of beautiful moments.

Following the success of Season 19 we knew what we needed to improve and adapt on while still maintaining our goals of providing a fun and engaging broadcast. Here at EPL we want to make sure to not get caught up doing the right thing so much so that we do nothing at all. I say this a lot, but Counter Strike is a fun game and we wanted to make sure we had fun and hoped you all did as well.

It is that time again though! We at ESL are looking for feedback to improve our events and learn how to make the experience better. Please take a moment to leave a comment below or fill out the Survey here. I'll do my best to respond when I arrive home from traveling.

HUGE SHOUTOUT to all the teams here for entertaining us and joining the broadcast, but also hats off to all the departments and talent who made it possible. At the end of the event the Media Services team created 270 unique video files to use on Social and Broadcast. That is also not including all the crazy LIVE segments from the production team created during over 150 hours of broadcast time! If any of you are reading this, please make sure to take a bow an be proud!

GG to NAVI and see you next season!

Outside of Gameplay, here are some of the crew's favorite moments from this season:

There will be things to nitpick but I don’t think there were any major problems at all, best production so far by far.

  2. Past_Perception8052

eternal fire didn’t win. fix that next time please

  3. The skits were quality content, keep them in going forwards.

The overall relaxed content makes it miles more engaging than other productions.

The smoke UI on the map on the top left side is bugged.

When a player throws a smoke and it lands, the map displays a blue/yellow circle. However, more often than not when a player threw a smoke, the circle didn’t appear. Instead, the smoke icon was displayed on the map, which indicates a player dropped a smoke nearby, instead of throwing it. Basically wrong info is being shown on the viewer map regarding the smoke icon

I know it’s trivial, but I also keep glancing at the map, and feels a bit odd when this happens.

Skits are great, but jump cuts between them are too jarring, just show them fully instead of rationing 5-10 second bits every time

  6. Don’t really have any feedback, but I do want to know what the EPL format will look like in 2025 if you can share that.

  7. ChaoticFlameZz

not really any feedback but more like a question, what will the format be for EPL starting in 2025? And how will invites and qualifications work for the foreseeable future? This was the last time we’ll see EPL formatted like this with all of those partnered teams.

  8. I hope you’re able to keep some semblance of the Pro League you’ve built over the last 3 years with whatever 2025 brings.

It’s been my favourite CS event to watch and attend for a while now.

  9. snafubarr

What’s up with the weird cuts ? I don’t know how many times I’ve seen people talk and then suddenly the production just cut to something else mid sentence, that was bizarre

  10. what was the whole panda bit with harry and hugo? it was being teased the entire EPL but I dont think the full thing ever aired?

  11. NarutoUA1337

stop allowing crowd to shout out any info its not fun to watch regardless of side giving info

  12. It was definitely the best EPL so far. Hope it stays the same. GJ all

I sincerely hope that ESL carries on with the same style and broadcast format. Watching arena style matches is good, but Pro League has always felt so much more down to earth and friendly.
The skits and the couch segments are highlights for me, and the player interactions are a nice breath of fresh air.
I always look forward to Pro League and I hope that moving forward it doesn’t lose its personality and laid back feel.
Also I missed the talent 1v1, and table tennis tournaments this time, please bring those back. And the obstacle course.

Thanks for the entertainment over the last few weeks!

Great event as usual, but please upload all content to YouTube 🙂

It would also be cool to review the whole triple-elimination group stage. It sucks to beat a team and lose on the next round just for you both to have to win 2 bo3s again

  16. EPL has the best format right now. Laidback talent doing their thing, not afraid to say what’s on their mind, great content & the best production.

  17. Feels like the best Pro League ever content wise!

I can’t really nitpick anything just a fun and chill way to watch CS that I’ll look forward to every year.

  18. disco_enjoyer

a real crowd instead of 40 people in a garage 🙂

  19. Snoo_9782

Can you guys post the video of Moses saying glock tuah i dont want it to become lost media

You have a lot of talent on hand at the Malta location. PLEASE get them to do the b streams on location as well. If not then atleast get the b stream casters to Malta. B stream games are not fun to watch.

Like others mentioned, the skits for half-time / between matches were super fun to watch and kept me tuned in when previously id just go do something else in that time.

Loved the matches, the commentary, no real glaring production issues. My only complaint (if you can even call it that) was that the observing felt a little lacking.

I do understand how difficult observing well can be, but this season felt a little off in comparison to previous seasons. It felt like the pov would swap away seconds before an engagement, or would focus on a player clearly not looking to engage for the next little bit while another player was scaling a different part of the map.

A very minor complaint overall, 8/10 times observing was perfect, but that 2/10 was definitely noticeable.

Keep up the good work guys, you knocked it out of the park this time ’round

Amazing tournament to watch! ESL are the best in the business, I think this has been reflected with a peak viewership of 808k in the final which are incredible numbers. The skits and laid back talent are my favourite part of EPL, Mongolz English skit was my personal favourite

  23. Ok-Inside2000

Honestly such a highlight of my days. The casual format carrying on the torch of summit is awesome. And all the segments and couch interviews gave the players chances to show their personalities. S tier event

  24. I didn’t love how the breaks kept switching between bits of sketches. I’d just start to want to watch one, then they’d cut away. Maybe at least add the title of the YouTube video for the sketch as a caption?

As well, the bit where it cut to break after the players were asked a controversial question was confusing the first time, and not particularly funny.

The rest of it was great!
