Canon printers are literally a scam

I bought this pixma g6020 mega tank printer because my dad has an old 10 to 15-year-old Canon printer that works great, it's an inkjet. Honestly should have just bought an old version of that off eBay or something, but decided to get a mega tank to be eco-friendly and have better range of printing since it boasts about having so much ink available to you….

This thing gave me like 30 good prints on photo paper before finally stopping and failing, it will now not print blue properly at all. I followed exact tutorials on YouTube on how to ink flush it which way is a huge amount of ink, did the whole syringe thing pulling air bubbles out and pushing stuff through the printhead to try and unclog it, and blue was coming out of the printhead. So there is no reason why this thing should not be printing right… It's just a scam

Sad that printers these days are designed like crap but cost $500

Can’t you just return it for being faulty?

I had a canon printer and you’re right they do suck. Never purchased another one of their pos printers.

  3. Printers have been a scam for a long time.

    Ink subscriptions now? Lmfao.

Most of the printers are a scam.

Also, why would you need to print Windows Xp background image? 😀

I have a EPSON ecotank ET-8500 for 3 years, still printing at top quality like day 1. My wife daily uses it for stickers and other detailed prints on thick or photo paper, it never diaspoints and consumes a few ink. Should be the same price range than your canon btw

My 3d printers have been more reliable than my 2D printers for nearly a decade😐

You have to align the printer often and also have to run the clean printer head feature.

I’ve had two Canon printers in the past and both were absolutely great printers. But I rarely print anymore, and because of that the ink clogs up between prints so bought a Samsung Colour Laser, worked great! for a short period of time… now I have a cheap B&W Brother Laser, and that thing’s a tank.

My cannon color laser printer (the small office one with the double sided bulk printing and auto feeder scanner stuff) is amazing, although I’ve had it for over 6 years now. And I buy the cheap toner off amazon for it, sometimes the cheap toner is faulty but its 10 dollars each compared to 110 dollars each for the cannon brand, so I’m totally okay with buying a couple extra cheap toners if I get faulty ones now and then. Still cheaper in the end.

I also have an Epson eco tank printer that is 2 years old now with auto feed scanner and it also prints double sided. I bought this to print photos and it does that amazingly well. The only complaint I have with the eco tank is that I have to buy the epson brand refills because the knock off cheap brands didn’t get the color shades correct. The off brand ink refills don’t make good quality photos on glossy paper.

I also use the EPSON for regulat printing too.

Sometimes I have to print bulk documents, and the cannon does that fast and cheap, but sometimes the cannon is going on a 200 page thing and I need a single page without waiting so I’ll use the epson for that.

I’ve heard Brothers printers are really good, however I haven’t personally tried those.

HP is a scam. You find out when you try to buy an ink cartridge.

I knew printers were a scam when I found out they put microscopic yellow dots all over the paper you print in a hash format so that anything that’s printed on your printer can be traced back to you.

User error. I have this exact printer and have used it for years. You have to routinely print some sort of page every week to keep the heads from drying out, possibly due to the ink tank design, and I believe the manual even calls this out. I automated this on my computer. If you use it regularly, there’s no need.

You didn’t perform the maintenance and so it failed, that’s on you.

I have a cartridge based canon inkjet from around 2016. Mine has been great for me, but I mostly bring in monochrome (documents) and use the scanning features.

Why would you try to fix it yourself and not call Canon support and get it RMAed?

If you recently got it it should still be under warranty.

More like inkjet printers are finicky and require frequent use or else periodic maintenance to avoid print quality issues.

Looks very similar to my model, the 7020, and it has still been working well so far.

  17. Eco tank printers are absolute ass print quality, both Canon and Epson, and I can only assume it’s entirely intentional so that we resign ourselves to going back to paying out the ass for tiny ass little print cartridges. Ass.

The free printer that came with my Compaq desktop back in 1999 had better print quality that these tank printers.

    Color/ink printing is a scam.

I switched to b/w laser printers and have been alot happier.

I recommend the hp deskjet 4200e. one of the cheapest printers out there, and has great quality. Its a bit slow if you’re prininting on the highest quality, but for average quality pictures it takes 10-20 seconds max. Also its an 3 in 1, so for 75e its a great deal, but please dont buy in the hp instant ink scam unless you print atleast 5 pages per day on avg

  20. If I ever buy a printer again it is gonna be a laser printer.

Canon printers are absolutely amazing if you know what you’re doing. Expensive to operate though.

  22. Mastasmoker

Stop wasting money on inkjet printers. Get a Brother color laser printer and never look back. A little more cost upfront but saves on the backend when you have a 5k page capacity for color and b/w printing
