It’s almost as if they put all the time into making it and thought maybe the only people who are buying this are enthusiasts and ex pilots…how do we recoup our expenses…hmm

MAGGLEMCDONALD
Well that’s the version with everything.
Buy the standard edition.

You could buy the $70 standard version? And it’s still literally the biggest flight simulator in the world? Is there a reason you want the most expensive version?
I mean, I’m ordering this version because I’ve played hundreds of hours of the game I think it’s fucking incredible (VR implementation is eh, okay I guess, but it’s VR so who cares?). I even already have Game Pass and I still want to order it, because I’ve had FS2020 since launch and it’s been an incredible 3 years for me, but I don’t imagine everyone feels that way. Apparently they’ve had +50 million distinct players (no doubt the influence of Game Pass, I wonder how that compares to Steam sales), but they said themselves, they’ve divided the audience between the “sim-heads”, the “virtual tourists”, and the mission-based “gamers” (not their words). Some of those, unsurprisingly, are not going to care about having a hundred additional pre-made airports on day one.
I do, but I’m a fanatic for this game. Just buy the standard game, or get a Game Pass trial.

This is for the aviator edition, the highest edition available. It includes the 30 highly detailed model planes that have been added to the game since MFS 2020. For simmers, it’s actually a good deal as those planes can be 30-40 dollars a piece, a standard for any flight sim game. For a casual gamer who is just wanting to fly and see the world, the standard edition is more then fine.
TheFiftGuy
Isn’t the game just on gamepass? Like who has an Xbox but not gamepass? (Yes this is a DLC bundle version, and yes the DLC is crazy expensive)
BringMeBurntBread
Honestly tho, MS Flight Simulator is probably the only game that is justified in having the high price that it has. It’s more than just a simple game, it’s an extremely realistic and detailed flight sim. To the point where even real life experienced pilots praise the game for being almost as realistic as actual training sims that they use.
And literally, most of the playerbase in these MSFS games are either real life pilots or aircraft enthusiasts. These are not games for the average gamer, they’re for a very niche audience. If you don’t like airplanes and you don’t think its worth $200 for a plane game, that’s fine. Don’t buy it then.
helmetshrike
I’m good with it. People gotta remember that there are enthusiasts that spend big money kitting out sim rigs specifically for MSFS, DCS, and X-Plane. A couple hundred bucks for the top tier (subjective) GA sim is reasonable for the hundreds/thousands of hours these folks put into them.
Not to mention the VATSIM experience and other services/add-ons that make MSFS even more immersive.

I was also skeptic about this… but as I was thinking and reading about it more… it sounds like a good deal. Even though price of €220 for a game sounds absurd. You’re getting all paid planes released by Microsoft/Asobo (about 30 of them) which are worth much more than this whole package.

Do you not know what comes with the aviator edition?
mashuto
Theres a normal priced edition too. Or just dont buy it.
TurboJaw
And it’s like 1/10 of my PC and flight sim peripheral set up. Still gonna save a few bucks and probably get the standard edition. I mostly fly planes from third party companies anyway as they are the most detailed.
birolsun
Free in gamepass right?
PixelPaint64
Maybe don’t buy the mad expensive edition?
beef623
It’ll need about half the hard drive to install too. Lol

Sometimes software is more valuable than hardware (I actually believe this happens often), and if you cannot understand that then gaming (and simulations) as a hobby is not for you. If this offends you, try to make good (not even great) software and see what kind of talent it takes to achieve that.

What does this version get you?
