This isn’t surprising. Nintendo has sued other gaming companies before. Just wondering why it took them so long to file a suit. Maybe they were waiting to see how popular Palworld would be.

  2. well, they took their time, to make sure, the win will be worth a few pennies.

    >Meanwhile, Sony has announced a joint venture with Pocketpair to form Palworld Entertainment, for the purpose of expanding the IP.

I’m pretty sure if that wasn’t the case, Nintendo wouldn’t have cared. But if Sony got their own Pokemon? That’s ringing some alarm bells in Nintendo HQ

  4. Isnt Palworld and Pokemon both using different mythical beast as inspiration.

Expected. Though Pocketpair have accomplished what people have been waiting Nintendo to do for a very long time.

  6. Patent infringement seems… Like a dumb thing to sue for? There’s many Monster Gaming titles out there.

Design Infringement seems WAY more obvious. But that’s not what they’re suing for. Dunno what they’re doing.

i’m quite stunned (and amazed) reading all the redditors’ comments about how “dumb” and “losing” this law suit is tho.

like guys, you are talking about a company who just won a similar case against **SIX** Chinese mobile game companies.

you sure you know more than their legal team?

  8. Rmb when Nintendo’s biggest competitor is Sega? Now it’s Sony, whose very presence in the gaming industry is probably owed to Nintendo since they initially were collaborating on a new cd addon for the SNES which failed but then evolved into the PS1. As much as I hate their business practices, you can’t deny they don’t work. Nintendo has been around since the Atari days and still is ahead of the pack. Tbf mostly coasting on all the nostalgia

  9. “worked hard to establish.” Hasn’t worked to improve it in 15 years.

Nintendo / GameFreak deserve to lose this, Gamefreak hasn’t innovated itself out of a wet paper bag in over a decade.

  11. I just hope the dev doesnt lose all the money he made from the game lmao.

I don’t think they really have much here besides maybe nitpicking specific design elements like ‘this looks too much like a Pikachu tail, change it’.
