PC users have been feeling this price pain for years. Now seeing PS5 users losing their minds at $699 for a mostly complete system (minus stand and disc drive) – they do not yet know the definition of suffering.
Maybe the 5090 will be more affordable (spoiler: it won’t)

Genuine question: Is it even worth spending that much on a PC sometimes? Edit: Just want to clarify I’m not planning on buying a 4090 any time soon, I was just wondering why people do
IceBone
It does have a theoretical 5x performance though. 82 vs 17 tflops.
Of course this is really dumbed down as there are other factors involved, but that’s raw silicon performance difference.

3090 Ti was $2000
V3N3SS4
I had to pay that for a RTX 4080 over here last year. The 4090 was almost 3k

Except my 4090 can do things well beyond what a PS5Pro can do.

I agree gpu is expensive now due to AI training bullshit, but using rtx 4090 situation compare to ps5?
ZeeDarkSoul
And despite that this sub will still say paying for the overpriced gpu is a good idea.

I wish it was 1600, in Europe it’s usually around 2000

I mean technically the 4090 is actually worth that if you can find it at msrp. It isn’t like it’s a bad deal, it’s just a lot of money

Nobody in their right mind that isn’t rich should be buying top end cards like that. 4080 at most for plebs, and even that is not a sound purchase with the turnover rate of GPUs. 4070 is the best high performance purchase for 95% of PC gamers. And value price/perf cards can be had for way better prices.

Need a picture of a guy struggling to tie his own noose for the 7900xtx.

It’s rather funny. The people complaining about the price of the PS5 Pro have never built a PC in their life and it shows. For similar specs, the graphics card is at minimum 800US to begin with. Then you have to buy CPU, coolers, PSU, motherboard, case, monitors, keyboard and mouse, etc.
You’re looking at a minimum $2500 investment. The PS5 pro is objectively a very good deal considering the level of performance you get compared to a PC of similar specs lol.

How many people are buying monitors that can keep up with the high power hardware?

5090, reporting in at 2499 soon TM

Bro the 4090 have the power of like x3 of the future PlayStation 9 lmao, it’s not comparable.

I’m a bit jealous these days for new builders. I built my first in peak covid. Prices were stupid and supply was limited. I just ordered parts to build a new one for the fam and I’m just stunned by what you get and the incredibly good price to performance. I can easily build a solid gaming PC for less than $700 that beats console performance. When I built mine the price to match the latest console was double that. I’m blown away. For $1,500 now you destroy consoles.

I don’t understand actually, PS5 literally costs 2x times less than iPhone in solid configuration. They literally buying ALMOST a PC and want to cost what? Like 400 bucks?
Jaggz691
Ahhh, $699, how I miss the 10 series days.
Denaviro
Where are you finding a 4090 for $1600? Where I’m from it’s $2200….

Australia 4090: why not be 3k?
Blitzkrieg762
I got one better for you. Dead 980 Ti in 2021 -> $1599 MSRP 3080 Ti.
Ryoga1980
It will be almost 1000 EUR with the drive and stand, still getting it as I want the best PS5 experience for the few games I play on it and 77 G3 OLED. My RTX 3090 PC plays all other games. New hardware will be expensive, get used to it.

Anyone remember the Titan Xp which released at $1200? Accounting for inflation that would be $1540 in today’s money.

Top of the line GPUs are only for people who can afford them, i got mine 3090 for a good deal 2 years ago and it still allows me to play newest titles in 240fps at 1440p.

What’s with the weird PlayStation apologia in this sub? I thought this was a PC sub. Is it not? It seems like every post I’ve seen from here is somehow trying to justify Sony making a $700 game console. A PC gamer should know you can do a lot more with a PC and there’s a wide range of graphics cards for a wide range of prices.
Willis5687
I’ll never understand the need to have the highest end gpu. I always have a model a couple years old at a fraction of the price, and it does everything I want it to do. Maybe I’m just a poor /shrug
OreilleRegent64
lol it’s so funny I see everyone saying that it’s 1500€ for a 4090 card. come to France it’s 2300€ for a 4090 card so be happy, honestly. 😭
