Bodycam is the latest ultra-realistic FPS game to hit Steam, but it seems to borrow a lot from other games… Is it TOO realistic?

It may be low effort, unpolished, overpriced, finicky, lacking in content, and earpiecing, but at least it's fun and unique. Something almost every game nowadays fails to deliver.
you're looking at this a lot as your average gamer. this simply isn't for your average gamer. this is for people who either hardly play games or hardcore sim players. You talk about making more like other FPS games but that outrageous. This game not being like other FPS is what works for it and makes it a challenge. We have enough game that hold your hand the whole damn way through. I really like that this doesn't. Just shooting target at the range in this game can be hard and it's bad ass. They better not make it easier.
Please… the gameplay is the proposed realism, there is no subtraction of one for another. This game cannot be rated by arcade players…
No DLSS no buy. I had to refund it as it won’t run over 40 on my 3070 and dips below 20.
Man your good at spoting the issues
Vr will be epic.
Game is fun but limited atm. Im having a blast as the rush you get is unlike sny other shooter but it can get stale considering they only have TDM and DM and only a few good maps.
Keep an eye out though, when more stuff is added to the progression and mechanics and game types this game will be really special.
"What if we made a realistic FPS with Wii aiming?" 😂
Bodycam Proves Graphics Aren't Everything… It proves gameplay is, which the game lacks.
BEST GAME FOR A QUICK REFUND
Okay I find it very funny that alpah and beta gameplay looked way more realistic than the actual release.
feels like it would work just fine the way it is for a immersive story, playing against bots/npcs. Other than that, it might only live up to the hype due to graphics and die like ARGO (Arma3 competitive attempt), because people did not enjoy much the harder advanced gameplay mechanics
Go ask any SWAT officer if this is realistic and they’ll say a hard no, because they use their eyes to view all this like current games. Only the replay on crappy body cam current technology looks weird like this. I don’t think this ‘innovation’ is any more than a tech demo in terms for where this is going. There will be a few clone games all coming out with the same look, and once the ‘wow’ factor wears off, it gets old really quickly.
You do realize that a lot of your gameplay mechanics complaints are “it’s too real and hard, why can’t I just be awesome”?
smh , no Honor. im good on this game. . . its just not cool. No real gamer would do such a thing. . . right?..
A lot of valid points, however I do not think it is valid to critique an "ultrahardcore" game for not being competitive or balanced. Such games never strive to be such, and those that do always fail, because life isn't fair lol. These games not being "fair" and watered down is the whole point, to not be like "every other game". Sacrificing QoL and gameplay cohesion are necessary for immersion, to create chaos that feels and looks real. Success of such "hardcore" games amongst surprisingly wide audience and even casual gamers clearly shows: everyone is tired of stagnation and status-quo, people want new EXPERIENCE, just like in good old times. Something actually new, burning with passion, bold and uncompromising, even if it is flawed.
Most critiques here are very much warranted. The guns however are really well done. It’s jarring but surprisingly intuitive, it just takes a bit and your landing shots that make you think, “I hit that?!”
I hate more arcadey games where your mouse skills are what determines how good a shooter you are. Positioning and pacing are more important IRL than shooting skills, and this game reflects that well. I really like not getting beamed by pixel peepers.
Gotta reduce the camera tilt for motion sickness
calls game bodycam to cater to Unrecord hype, proceeds to add eyeline ADS. Thats not how bodycams work smh
BodyCam is sick af, and only reinforces the fact I’ll be buying Unrecord. Both these games make tarkov look like Minecraft lol, I’m all for the future these games will usher in
All the maps are assets, so new content relies on assets being made and are nothing to do with the dev team. I also don't like how they jam the 17yo/20yo down your throat when you launch the game, and then sell it for that price. I've never felt so motion sick as I have playing this. This is definitely a trend release, they wanted money for doing fuck all really. Using assets and being the first to release such a game. No wonder they got it out so quick.
i’m super glad they stole from unrecorded let that be a lesson stop scamming & teasing projects ur not even close to finishing lmao
Continuing the trend of "hyper-realistic" UE5 games that look almost identical.
How can 2 people create something like this while studios have over thousands of employees and takes them years to make something worse than this
When a game made by 2 guys is better than a game made Ubisoft.
To be honest, a lot of what you say here on noise and visuals is just immersion in my opinion.
Unrecord fumbled the bag by teasing something and not releasing soon after.
Bodycam is like a temu version of unrecorded if temu dropped products first
Hate to break it to you guys but real life places are not balanced for gun fights lol.
Well guess unrecord devs got some competition with a 17 and 20 yr olds😂
When are we going to let go of the army call of duty Black ops stuff
Okay did you see him advertised Star wars hunters this is the reason why they are pumping up the body cam game that s*** is for kids cuz this body cam game pretty much looks like call of duty what is the difference at where where is the different storyline the different characters the the backgrounds I understand realism that's good but realistically you want to shoot somebody I think we have a big problem with that all over the world and in the game what makes that fun constantly killing another person or player if you really get down to it that really doesn't make a game what it is
I feel that you may be a little too hyper critical on what these 2 guys have accomplished and also their experience base. They're only 17 and 20. Almost no one at that age is going to have bounds of knowledge on what makes good map design or how to create a new gameplay function and make it feel fluid or make menu UI something cohesive. Even Triple A studios struggle with these things at times. These are things that take years and decades to master and these guys have put something together, taken a leap, and are releasing something that they're trying to create. True, they may make decisions that are "immature" for the outlet, such as using copyrighted music or recreating loved maps from respective games, but they also probably don't know any better. This is just as much of a learning experience for them to make the game as it is for us to play it. I just think it's a bit unfair to tear into someone's project before it's truly left the ground yet. These guys are young, they don't fully know what they're doing yet.
They make a BIG joke out of ALL AAA companies, lol
I honestly don't care who came up with the idea first. The distinct feature of both games is use of unreal engine to get realistic lighting and buying realistic environments. It comes down to who can release it first which these two devs definitely won.
Now that they've raised some capital, hopefully they actually invest in contracting environment artists and other developers to flesh out a fully developed game. Playing it was honestly pretty fun as I found their movement and aiming system unique for a "tactical fps shooter", and it was pretty fun for 10-15 minutes which just proves that they just need to finish the game itself to solidify their position.
I was pretty close to refunding the game after I got "bored" but saw the developers were hard at work with hotfixing certain bugs immediately which gave me enough confidence to just hold onto the game and see how far they develop it.
It's clearly a ripoff of Unrecord, and the difference in lighting quality between both games is clear. Bodycam looks realistic, but not photorealistic in the way Unrecord does.
