90s: Press these buttons and get a big head, slo mo, and an alien mode
now: pay $4.99 for XP boosters to take out the grind, and another 19.99 for a cosmetic
Not the way I thought gaming would go in the 1990s lmao

Wow seeing it in your hands is like remembering years ago when I played my older brother’s games and did not pay attention to the manuals back then, nowadays I would have liked to enjoy the feeling of playing knowing what to do

I am always checking the manuals whenever I purchased a used game. You never know what you might find.

Years ago I bought a boxed copy of Jet Force Gemini at some vintage store. Inside was a few folded pieces of grid paper with notes written on them as the previous owner progressed thru the game.
The writing was in cursive and was organized like an outline with bullet points. My first assumption was that someone’s grandparent picked up gaming as something fun to do in retirement.
