So this would happen with Webwork, our online math platform. They’d give tests and homework on the same platform.
The problem isn’t opening anything else, it’s trying to open **past webwork assignments**. They’d reuse homework problems sometimes, so if you could go into your old homework you could just copy and paste the answers. So yeah, your platform can detect you’re trying to open assignments while taking a test can shut down and report it.
Of course, what our school does now is proctored exams. The proctoring software detects multiple monitors and screen recording software so you can’t take the test and give the list of problems to someone else. You have to do a recording of your test setup to demonstrate there are no devices or unauthorized materials in your work space, like sometimes you can have a calculator and note sheet but obviously your phone or tablet shouldn’t be there. It records you while you’re taking the rest and if you keep looking weird places it’ll flag suspicious behavior. It’ll pause the rest and complain at you if your face isn’t in frame.
I’m really glad I don’t have to take those anymore.

Where I live there are sometimes those tests that won’t let you pass if you exit full screen. What I figured to do is press F12, find the timer, right click it, set it to make a break point when it gets changed and the script just stops. Now you can do whatever and then put yourself into fullscreen before resuming. That or just the Android’s new window feature when taking the test from mobile.

I’ve got about 6 monitors and several various sizes of tvs just laying around. Plus about 7 old work style PCs. Dell, asus, Lenovo, and 2 laptops. I’m good

That’s why during my uni online exams it was required to show your room and table on camera, and both your desktop and camera feed was broadcast for the duration of the exam. It also tracked mouth movements, you weren’t supposed to change tabs or leave your seat, and if you were inactive for more than 10 minutes, the exam would end prematurely.

Much as I love having a second screen for gaming and stuff in general I’m not sure I could go back to studying with just one screen. Like it makes such a difference being able to pull up sources or material on one screen while working on the document on the other and in general just makes study or assignment work so much easier than having to go between them or have different tabs up on a single screen.

Lockdown browser is the bane of my existence. It’s so unreliable with changing the registry keys to disable task manager and other things that I’ve had to create a registry restore point before opening the software every single time. It always fails to give me at least one function back.

If you have a laptop and PC, just have the laptop on the side and use a Logitech MX series mouse to switch between computers seamlessly.
