My 3090 just died

At least that gives me an excuse to get the 4090 second hand when 5000 series rolls around…

I checked both with MSI and the local store I got it from, it's out of warranty.

Only thing left now is to chuck it in the oven and hope for the best!

RIP 3090. You will be missed 🙁

Northridgefix if you want to save it. No guarantees though. You could watch some of his videos and take a multimeter to see if there’s a short somewhere on one of the rails. If you confirm there’s a short then Northridgefix can fix it for you and you’ll have your card working again. But obviously ask for a quote on repair costs.

There’s nothing sadder in the PC world than the death of a 90 series card. How long did it last?

well doesn’t seems like you treated it very well, 2 cables for 3 8 pins from the looks of it, ussually it should be 3 unique cables that way you have more sources for power and it’s safer to run it that way, otherwise you can overload a single cable and it won’t give the GC enough power, either way GG and don’t do that on your next GC

My rx570 died on me after 2 years. Now with the 3060ti I don’t want this to happen. How long did your 3090 survive?

I had a 3080 ti that just “died” like this after two years of normal use. They just don’t make em like they used to man. My MSI 970 I bought in 2013 still works like new after 11 years of CONSTANT use. Why can’t they continue to make reliable parts like that?

I’ve undervolted mine to 850mv. I kept contemplating a 900mv baseline instead, and probably doing a better job of the repadding since my hotspot is easily upto 14c higher. Guess I’ll stick to 850mv.

  9. What are you guys doing to your GPUs to kill them. I’ve never had a GPU die on me and I’m a lifelong PC gamer

Buy an Evga 3090 you’ll never regret it, my 3080 is going strong and I just bought a 3080ti to add to my other machine.

My 4080 died last week 🙁 Fortunately for me I bought it 1 year and 11 months ago whereas there is a 2 year warranty in the developed part of the world, so I got a new one.

I use my RTX 3080 with 75% power limit in MSI Afterburner, this way it’s more silent and I hope it will last longer

I am genuinely very scared… I do have 1 year left on msi warranty though. Does anyone know if msi cards are prone to dying fairly early?

My 1080 is great. 980ti still holding strong asf too. I figured all these new chips would die fast because how hard their pushed… for what..? A 1080 still beating a 3060? I thought it was supposed to be way obsolete lol and these old chips last 10+ years vs 1? Ouch.

Why do you want such a high card like a 4090?

Do you have renter’s insurance that covers electrical surges? File a claim.
