2024 is the year of the factory/automation game genre

Factorio, the headliner game of the automation genre, has it's much anticipated 1st expansion releasing next week.

But while Factorio is the most widely known title in the genre it's largely responsible for promoting, there has been several major release in this genres this year! It's been a great year to be a fan of these kinds of games.

Satisfactory, probably the other most well known title, released it's anticipated 1.0 update several weeks ago & is doing well.

Timberborn, a game where you maintain a beaver colony focused on water physics & dam building, just released a major update this past week.

Captain of Industry is a colony manager where you produce everything from food to fertilizer to steel & electronics, has a large update adding Trains later this year.

Dyson Sphere Program had a major update earlier this year adding enemies & combat.

shapez2 is a unique & abstract factory builder released a few months ago where you assemble shapes rather than typical factory game products.

Final Factory released this summer, where your factory is a spaceship.

Foundry, which seems similar to Satisfactory to me, but I haven't played it myself yet.

There are definitely others I'm not aware or that are slipping my mind currently. So far this year like every month or two there's a new automation game sucking me in. The factories must grow!

2024 is also the year that Highlander 2 takes place. Make of that what you will.

Infinifactory – Smaller scale, level based optimisation of block configuration.

    Building factories that assemble products.

Touch somewhat the same itch as factorio by being clever and optimising needing to think about area, speed, materials used.

    It deserves a spot here.

Will 2025 be the year of the awaited sequel?  Got GTA 6, Civ 7, and Fable that came to mind off the top of my head

Are any of these two player local or on Mac? My wife and I are looking for games and really enjoy these.
