Would the high cpu temperature cause the hardware failures? Is my overclock unstable or is it my cpu temperature causing the issue?

97c is definitely not okay. Did you manual overclock or PBO? Which cooler?

Temps by themselves dont cause instability but if they’re too high you start to throttle and its counterproductive

However, higher temps leads to higher resistance, and you could become unstable vs lower temps or need more volts to stabilize the increased resistance. Eitherway, you have to have temps in check first, then you OC.
