How this exists and is considered acceptable in 2024 for a full priced game is beyond me

the whole game feels like a low budget project, there are literally indies that are artistically and technically incredible and cost 1/4 of the price.

    “You’ve become an amazing fighter”

That and the slide-show, powerpoint style cutscenes are unacceptable at this price.

Sadly I have always thought most of the DBZ games have been pretty bad.

  4. Expecting the entire of dragon ball to animated in detail, is hilarious

  5. anitawasright

how is this different from the cartoon?

I mean…the point is the fighting, and all Budokai Tenkaichi games(sparkling was japanese name) were like that. So. Honestly, I don’t mind

  7. ThreeLeggedPirate69

    Looks like some fanmade animation.

  8. On a complete side note. It’s amazing how Goku’s genes completely overwrite Chichi’s, he practically clones himself. Yet Vegita’s kids look more like Bulma. Because she totally owns his ass.

That’s Bandai for ya, they treat the games based on their anime IP’s with contempt…

I’m pretty sure that the story mode stuff is just like an addon to the fact that its a new fighting game.

And looking back at my favorite DBZ story mode Budokai 3, it’s just pngs of the characters talking to each other and the slide show used stills from the anime. However I do think the PNGs are an upgrade when it comes to characters talking.

Fighterz, is kind of similar to this with how characters are talking, but just looks better.

Honestly par for the course for a DBZ fighting game lol.

Edit: Why am I getting downvoted for saying that they always do this for their fighting games?

  11. When fans of franchises always picks up the tab it’s the inevitable outcome.

I’m guessing you haven’t actually watched any DBZ, have you?

What’s the problem? If you wanna play a movie game then play a movie game like Uncharted or something.

This is a fighting game. You see anyone complain about the cut scenes and story of Smash Bros?

  14. is the nose supposed to be moving along with the mouth?

  15. LordWeirdDude

I mean… This is better than fucking JUMP FORCE, so I’m calling it a win.

  16. GoldOppaiExperience

Yeah the game does feel and look rather cheap. Kind of unfortunate to be honest. Like they have the money but nah. Like I was expecting so top notch animated cut scenes.

Bro you can be happy if a full price game nowadays is working properly and has no ads or battlepass in it.

  18. AlwaysChewy

You must be new to Bandai Namco licensed anime games. Lot budget, high profit is the motto.

  19. let me see…. *listed in top seller of steam page when its technically not even out yet* oh, i guess thats why

  20. croagslayer46

dragon ball budokai tenkaichi 3 is so much better than this shit

  21. You buy this game for the gameplay. Any “story” is just a shitty rehash of the anime so you can follow along

  22. BarfiksCanavari

The gameplay is amazing. I understand that those cutscenes look bad, but the game is good besides that.

  23. ChChChillian

Look, their hair is moving. What more do you want?

  24. Blade_Red

The focus is not the story. Its the combat

  25. FuckingGratitude

Do you expect an arena fighter to be as immersive as Elden Ring or RDR2?

  26. It’s inspired by an anime that’s pretty much exactly like this. It’s made for fans of the anime and it looks like they have made a conscious choice to ape that anime, tbh. Now I don’t *agree* with that choice but this looks pretty much exactly as I would expect.

Only real problem here is they’re moving the plot forward a little too quickly here. This looks like at least 3-4 seasons worth and they’ve gone through it in only 9 seconds!
