Sweet. A video doc full of a bunch of vague platitudes about the promising future of Halo. Haven’t seen that kind of energy from 343 Industries before.

    I wish them luck, regardless.

  2. OszkarAMalac

So they finally did drop Blam! and all it took to fire half(?) the management.

  3. Senseless_Survey

As a long time fan, I just want Halo to be relevant again. Please 343, don’t let me down!

  4. AcolyteOfFresh

so this is just them trying to rebrand away from how terrible 343 branding is now that they have sunk halo ip

  5. BigButter7

    While I know it’s Unreal Engine 5, I won’t deny it looks good…

  6. Halvardr_Stigandr

The hubris of 343 to think they deserve to have their studio named after an IP they destroyed.

  7. RoryJefferson33

So let me get this straight, everyone told Microsoft to remove 343 from developing Halo and they have instead rebranded them to Halo Studios? What were they thinking?

  8. Undisputedevo

jeez, why not just idk find another studio to handle halo. 343 obviously couldn’t handle the ip. Between the last few games and the show. Halo has died as a must have in my mind.

  9. hotchiphoe

That’s like accidentally shooting your golden goose then naming your farm after said golden goose

  10. Yeah…….cause the name 343 studios was the issue and not the internal stupidity of the studio not knowing where to take the franchise.

A studio so afraid of making other kind of games in the Halo universe, To scared to pull of another Reach & ODST game cause Mr Jon “Double Cheeked up on a Tuesday afternoon” Halo up wont be in the game.

Good grief, Micro$oft really don’t know what to do with Halo huh.

  11. zenoriax

I’ll bet even Cortana’s rolling in her cyber grave seeing these move. Gaming drama is real, folks.

  12. nohumanape

Not really a bad recruitment video. The footage of UE5 assets looks really good. I hope this allows them to speed things up and get a proper campaign entry out in time for maybe the next console launch.

  13. roundelay11

Oh look, a terrible studio is trying to run from their past of being a terrible studio. They only ran one of the largest gaming IP’s in the medium’s history into the ground, and now they hope to dodge that by rebranding.

  14. Firamaster

This is definitely an attempt to step away from the….less than excellent history of 343i. Hopefully they can fix their leadership issues and not repeat the same mistakes.

  15. TungstenPaladin

The only news I want to hear from 343 industries is that they’re getting shut down and the Halo IP being assigned to somebody else. I don’t care what else they do. They don’t deserve any more chances.

There’s a reason Reach was the last good Halo game, and it isn’t a coincidence that it was the last one Bungie laid hands on.

Call me a child but I’ve always despised Destiny because I felt like it was the reason Halo stopped being good. I realize Bungie wanted to move on and do their own thing, but they were the reason Halo was as good as it was and it’s a shame that 343 took the beautiful series Bungie molded and drove it into straight into the ground.

    All I can say:

    #Let’s see what they do

  18. I never see one decent game under UE5 Engine. Exactly zero. Except fortnite that I never going to play

  19. Agent_G_gaming

given what they’ve done so far since they got the franchise changing their names won’t change anything. Honestly I just feel this studio should just do something else, try their hand at a different game and see what they have a talent for because with Halo, they haven’t done well with the franchise.

  20. BitingArtist

Halo 4: decent Halo 5 : bad Halo 6: decent but unfinished.

  21. Cheesetorian

Here’s a suggestion: for ONE GAME try to deliver high quality product with very low monetization if any.

Like a one off. You won’t make the same amount of money off it but you’ll gain PR which is more valuable than quick profit.

Consider it an “investment” to your reputation. You might trick some of us into believing you care anything more than just money. You might actually make a bit more money in the future.

  22. Big-Resort-4930

Halo, 343, UE5, all of those names individually basically guarantee failure at this point in time, not to mention combined.

  23. Reign_of_Ragnar

Praying for an UE5 ODST game 🙏🏼

  24. No, please no. My beloved has been mutilated enough, just let it die. I wouldn’t trust 343 to cook Mac ‘n’ cheese at this point.

  25. Part of me hoped they’d go in a new direction. A 343 original ip, but since they’re called halo studios now, I doubt they’ll ever make a non-halo product.

  26. Later_Doober

So they can’t come up with any new ideas so they just try to milk a dieing franchise.

  27. xAV14T0Rx

Wow this is nothing more than a corporate circle jerk

  28. swallowing_bees

Their best bet would be to get as many former Bungie people as possible, and that includes Marty.

  29. Halo has always had a look and feel that has made it iconic which I hope they stick with as opposed to just making everything look more realistic.

One of the things that threw me off with infinite was the sound design. They moved away from a lot of the weapon and vehicle sounds which we could instantly recognise as Halo and replaced them with more realistic recorded sounds from engines and weapons etc. I’m sure they’re technically better sounds but something so simple made the game feel more generic and less like Halo if you know what I mean.

  30. CosmicOwl47

Name change is kinda cringe. 343 at least seemed slightly clever.

  31. AscendedViking7

Make no mistake, this is just 343i calling itself something else because the name “343 Industries” has an extremely negative association with it after nearly a decade and a half years worth of incompetence and broken promises.

[I’m with the Arbiter on this one…](https://youtu.be/okEeZRCEznw)

This is not a new beginning.

We simply traded one villain for another.

  32. Darklord_Bravo

They just announced a 3rd person mode for Infinite. I know it’s because they’re desperate to sell more skins because the game is pretty much dead.

I’m really surprised Microsoft didn’t give some other studio a shot at Halo after Infinite didn’t meet expectations and 343 took months to do anything about it.

  33. Iggy_Slayer

With all of the problems UE5 has on both console and PC this engine switch is basically a lateral move. Maybe it helps with their efficiency issues, but good luck optimizing your next game.

  34. jekyll94

Weird to name yourself after a series you butchered.

  35. Lootthatbody

Just a reminder that 343i laid off hundreds of people over the last year, and infinite wasn’t a mess because of the engine. This is borderline gaslighting.

Now, I’m not saying you can’t be excited, not at all. Just, remember the context here. They spent 7-8 years developing infinite and the leadership was atrocious. Infinite launched in a horrible state and it took them years to make it even remotely passable, and I’d argue the campaign was never even close to complete.

Did they need a fresh start? Sure, why not. Was the engine probably a big issue? Sure, I believe that it probably was. However, I’m not certain they’ve dealt with many/any of the biggest underlying issues. They cleaned house at the top of leadership, but time will tell if those same processes remain or if the new branding will actually change anything. They switched to UE5, but that means Halo is going to probably look and feel different moving forward, and I’m curious about how forge, co op, and other features will work. That also means they can, unfortunately, continue relying on the revolving door of contractor work instead of just hiring full time devs and keeping them on. And, because it’s Xbox/microsoft still, there is no real confidence that they will get the time and budget needed to make a really good game. Are they going to launch it 6-12 months early like most of their games? Is it going to be just a miserable wreck of monetization like Infinite was? My money is a yes for both. That isn’t a reflection on the studio, it’s the leadership above them who seem to always talk about commitment to excellence, but just flat out refuse to empower teams to really execute.

I get that people are hyped for this, but I haven’t felt anything for the Halo franchise in years, and this did nothing to change that.

  36. So it’s the same team and they’re changing something that wasn’t even the problem with new Halo’s. Why is this exciting lol.

  37. I want nothing but excellence from halo. I’ve loved the franchise since Halo CE but I won’t be pre ordering or dropping any kind of money on the next game until it’s demonstrated they can actually deliver.

  38. MikeTheDude23

All looks, no substance. The studio has bigger problems making Halo look shiny. Wtf are they doing to improve the series? The gameplay? The story? Fuck off with the graphics. Any game can look good nowadays. That’s not the problem.
