To lick the boot of AMD for just one second, consider it has actual architecture meant for the type of calculations “AI” requires – that part of the new naming scheme kind of makes sense.

Can’t logically explain the rest of their naming scheme though.

Basically the entire tech industry at the moment.

Employee’s: “here is a new chip that faster and better”
    Ceo: “Its still missing something”
Employee’s: “its the latest architecture, more efficient and faster and more raw performance and increased stability”
Ceo: “No its still missing “AI ready” written across it”
Employee’s: “but this has nothing to do with AI, majority of the people who buy this will just use it to play games and do work”
    Ceo: “exactly”

As one other user said, this is the entire industry right now. Every product is just plastered as AI ready

  4. After VR changed the landscape irrevocably and fundamentally altered how we interface with technology and PCs, we needed another two letter thing to change everything all over again.

Anyone still use VR? At all?

Blockchain, NFT, AI, etc. the tech industry is nothing but fads and buzzwords these days

  6. GlowDonk9054

Apparently putting “AI” on a product could hurt sales

  7. bringbackcayde7

let’s add a tiny little npu on the chip and call it AI

  8. Prodding_The_Line

And then when the AI fad dies down, they can sell specialized stickers or mounting brackets that cover the AI wording. Genius!

AI keyword is a trend for business right now. Samsung & Apple also do the same. Is there a betting site for how many times Nvidia will say “AI” in the next RTX announcement?

The tech industry loves the shit out of buzzwords. The same thing happened when 5G was introduced around 5 years ago. Every 5G capable phone proudly included “5G” in their naming schemes, but nowadays you don’t really see “5G” included as part of a phone’s name anymore because 5G is way more common than it was when it was first introduced.

It is the same story as “tron” back in the 80’s (?). It was put on every goddamn thing like a buzzword while meaning absolutely nothing.

The best example is the Logitech subscription mouse. It has ai plastered all over it while the only thing that has anything to do with AI is that button to call up chat GDP…

  12. If they could do fsr with new npus it will be fire for sure.

  13. Signupking5000

It’s even more stupid that they changed their naming system because **they want a bigger number than intel**

I look forward to “AI” dying a death, just like every damn tech fad. At least 3D was kinda fun sometimes.
