My girlfriend bought me new HyperX headset to replace my 7 year old ones for my birthday and man I never thought HP would cheap out so much from Kingstons. They aren’t even the same headset anymore. Not only the physical quilty but also the sound is different.

    Speaking of which…
Does anyone know a good headset for someone who easily gets headache from Headsets?

Well guess I’m not going to buy a new set from them then.

Guess you are stuck with them for at least a year (until they break) – You kinda have to use them!

  4. I was thinking of replacing my old ones but now seeing the same model has inferior quality I will look elsewhere.

    Well that sucks.

But it’s HP. That’s the kind of quality I would expect from them

Yeah it’s really bad how downgraded the new ones are.

I got some rig 600 series and I’ve been really happy with them. Way lighter and more comfortable then the razr set I had and I replaced a pair of wired hyperx with the wireless 600’s.

Thats the basic idea of business. Figure out a price point that a product easily sells. Then develop it more and more to make it cheaper to produce. They don’t have to ell it cheaper. The consumers already think its an X dollar set of premium gaming headphones.

Dang quality is going down. Could you possibly transplant the old internals into new externals? I know that would be some of the crap material but at least some of it would be new?

Talk nicely to your girl about returning it. Then go test other sets with her ideally. Been down this road before. Then carefully guide her into picking the ones you want.

I remember them getting decent reviews, but changing stuff on following models.

I’ve been running those Philips SHP9500 for years, with VMODA mic. It’s mostly for gaming but I have used it for everything even though I have nicer headphones. Doubt I’ll ever have to replace this headset, and I’ll probably buy a replacement mic next sale jic because they do break. I might upgrade mics but those $10-$15 boom mics work well enough so far.
