Just like apple says their new phone is the best phone they ever made so far.

An obvious statement that is, quite ironically, false in some respects

I’m sorry what? The main storyline is a tedious fetch quest. The graphics are decent but not exactly pushing any boundaries. The space aspect and space fighting is extremely primitive. Companions are all extremely boring and moral “You just… you just killed that guy! I can’t fly with you anymore *goes off to sulk*”. You can persuade anybody to do anything, no matter the magnitude of your request (e.g. you can just convince the Starborn at the end to hand over his life’s work for no reason other than you asking nicely). And don’t get me started on the loading screens! I’d say this is probably the worst Bethesda game ever. I enjoyed Fallout 4 a hell of a lot more than this, and that game has its fair share of flaws.

Yea and the shit I just left in the toilet doesn’t sink.

  4. StannisLivesOn

It’s not even the best game made by Bethesda within the last 15 years.

  5. MooncalfMagic

Well, if it’s the only game that designer ever worked on, it’s technically true.

  6. kynthrus

I don’t think Starfield lovers even believe that.

Bethesda lead designer admits to being completely incompetent in the modern gaming industry.

  8. ComprehensiveStore45

Yo what? This guy is mad tripping 😂

  9. It’s the only game they’ve ever made.

They’re same games with a different coat of paint.

    Bethesda is ass.

Jesus Christ he really is just saying complete bullshit, from the article-

“I think in a lot of ways, Starfield is the hardest thing Bethesda has ever done,” Pagliarulo said. “We pushed ourselves to make something totally different. To just jam into an Xbox the biggest, richest space simulation RPG anyone could imagine. That we pulled it off makes Starfield something of a technical marvel. It’s also, in a lot of ways, the best game we’ve ever made. But for us, most importantly, Starfield has its own unique personality, and now sits right next to Fallout and Elder Scrolls.”
Emil Pagliarulo says “we pushed ourselves to make something totally different”

Having a huge ego is not good for game design, great game design is iterative and requires tons of testing and perfecting to be great.

If I were a CEO or whatever I would fire someone the week after they made statements like this.

Morrowind is a more immersive world and it came out in 2002

  13. Oddly, Fallout 4 is probably his best game. At least the gameplay loop is fun.

Havent tried it, even when i had a xbox series x. If i want space and planet exploration, i own no mans sky. If i want fallout, i have fallout 3 and 4 and used to have vegas which is better imo. If i want a modern fallout-like game, i have the outer world game. I do enjoy deathloop and ghostwire tokyo and evil within, and doom and wolfenstein. Starfield is like just a bit better looking than redfall to me.

  15. As I’ve said to my friends who asked about it: Starfield is an excellent framework and I look forward to playing the game Bethesda one day builds on it.

The game’s underlying mechanics aren’t the problem. It’s the amount of open space with nothing to discover that’s the problem. If they keep releasing new content and vastly expand the number of POIs, the game will be pretty good.

  16. Of course it’s Emil Pagliarulo saying that.

He’s the Alex Kurtzman of game design.

  17. KoolerMike

All they had to do to make starfield pretty decent was have variation for the locations. Have 5+ different variations of the research center/ more variations of each locations. Nobody enjoyed exploring the same exact science center over and over, with the exact same loot and enemy placement
that’s what killed it and made the game feel as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle. Why go explore the far ends of the galaxy where they said nobody has ever been? Yet you find the exact same locations you do around the main city

  18. LennyPeppers

Skyrims re re re re re re re release is massively better.

  19. Deathtrooper50

Fallout London is the best Bethesda game since Skyrim and it wasn’t even “made” by Bethesda. Starfield might be the best Bethesda game since Fallout 76 because then it’s only competing with that dumpster fire.

  20. Few_Highlight1114

Maybe it’s their first game as lead designer so it’s technically true lol

  21. wellaintthatnice

Bethesda lead designer is a complete moron.

  22. InflamedLiver

The entire budget must have been used to purchase the drugs that were responsible for this comment.

  23. TGB_Skeletor

Well i can’t imagine what the worst one is then

  24. JeffTheJockey

“We made something totally different” -Inventor of the square wheeled bicycle.

  25. Honest_Carob_8621

The gaslighting is making me want TES6 less. Wtf.

  26. StratStyleBridge

Elder Scrolls 6 is gonna suck, isn’t it?

  27. crazy_goat

As an engineer – I think it’s safe to say that the designers may have found the most satisfaction in the creation of Starfield. Having ambitious goals and engineering creative solutions can be very rewarding.

Doesn’t mean the end product is the most fun/immersive thing you’ve made.

  28. lukeyslife

This is the best joke they’ve ever made.
