Need Help with My AMD FX-8120 Running Slow—Only 1.4 GHz Instead of 3.1 GHz?

Hi everyone,

I recently dusted off an old computer of mine that has an AMD FX-8120 CPU. However, I noticed it's running at only 1399.67 MHz, which seems incredibly slow, especially for older standards. The stock speed is 3.1 GHz, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I suspect that at some point, I may have changed some settings in the BIOS or elsewhere that could have affected its performance. I’m looking for guidance on how to reset or adjust these settings to restore the CPU to its original performance.

For reference, here’s my CPU-ID benchmark: CPU-ID Benchmark.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Maybe clear the CMOS by taking the battery out or shorting the leads next to it? Otherwise boot into the bios and load defaults. Check windows power settings. Those FX CPUs were very easy to overclock and play with when I had one

Boot into BIOS (probably F2, Delete, or Escape during boot), load optimized defaults, save and exit, test again.
