PC

This or custom built?

I want to get my first ever PC and I don’t know whether this or building a custom pc would be better. I make content and would like to stream on twitch/tiktok also would like it to be capable of playing decent level games.
It’s £699, can you build a better pc for around that price or?
Thanks everyone 🙏🫶

That glass front panel is scary! No air for you!

You can get a better one in terms of performance and quality.

Prebuilds have a history of using the worst motherboards and power supplies. I would never trust them.

That i9 9900k is coming up to 5 years old now, same with the GPU. Based on those alone it’s not worth it maybe if it was £200 it would be worth it

If you can stretch the budget to 800, you can build a system with a modern AM5 CPU that runs circles around the old i9:

If you can’t, this AM4 system would still be better while also being cheaper:

  6. As someone who bought a prebuild and built 2 pc’s here is my advice. If you are lazy and want a pc quick. Go for it. But you don’t get to pick quality parts and will most likely have minor or major issues here and there.

My prebuilt overheated and burnt my motherboard because it had bad airflow and a bad cooler and badly applied thermal paste.

Is all prebuilt this bad? Probably not. But it’s a chance you take not picking your own parts and building it yourself.

Ram seems ok, gpu is…fine? I don’t know if the whole price on that currency is cheap or not, but you can get better on a custom build, or get the pieces and build it yourself, also the chasis is a hard pass, those fans look fancy but they aren’t helping with air flow with that panel in front

9/10 its cheaper to build urself unless theres a crazy sale (which is rare)
