It’s tough news, but hopefully they’ll bounce back!

How much was the CEO and other executives pay increase?
airforcedude111
well thank God for that
lahetqzmflsmsousyv
Shut down the China Launcher and they will save even more money!
cleepromach
They own the biggest money printing machine in the industry. It’s weird to hear them announce breaking even.
EGS must be an incredible money pit to suck up all the profits of FortNite.
cleepromach
What even was their strategy with bandcamp? Probably the most senseless acquisition a big corp has ever made
Krullervo
Thank god those 830 people could cushion his bad decision making.

We all knew Fortnite was on its last let’s financially, I’m glad they can keep the lights on now over at Epic
Cowflexx
Good for them….fuckers Sincerely: an ex Epic employee
Razeal_102
Won’t be financially sound for very long after this bs.
Wakinya
Sp the pay of these 830 people was the problem, not bad decision making from the top. These people man…
Steamedcarpet
Before Fortnite how was Epic making money? Was it all just royalty from Unreal Engine?
Degerzith
Were they not making billions off skins in that game? Didn’t they have a record year not too long ago because of that game?
NowShowButthole
That’s good. Now the poor, tiny indie company known as epic can keep the lights on for a bit longer.
DreamDeveloperStudio
Lets be fair, each year they hire and layoff people, probably some free tax strategy. If you hire them before the end of year, you can put them as expesinse or something like that
stuaxo
The games industry: just continually lay people off and then employ new ones, forever. No wonder that game development had such a bad reputation for quality for such a long time, how are you supposed to have any institutional knowledge when this keeps happening?
SgtBadAsh
Lays off 830 employees.. Keeps pumping money into failed EGS..
Caladean
Great! Now they have more money to spend on useless court cases against other big tech companies.
sonofgoku7
epic is such a cringe company. if you want to download any of their mobile games they make you download the epic store through an APK just so they don’t have to share profits with Google through the PlayStore.
greedy ass people, I’ll never play any epic game ever.
rattletop
Financially sound to hire more lawyers and go around suing left and right while they themselves sign exclusivity deals
huansbeidl
Maybe one of the 15 remaining people can work on the store now?
mrwafu
Tim Sweeney
#$5.7B Real Time Net Worth as of 10/2/24 Number 576 in the world today
Sweeney can buy a yacht now that he doesn’t have to worry about paying 830 people
Struykert
Good, now work on the mental aspect of your shite company.

Getting rid of all those useless employees will allow the C-suite to get nice bonuses this year.
Dave_FIX
I’m struggling here, Fortnite prints money doesn’t it? I mean I know its not as hyped as it once was but it still has a huge player base. Giving games away for free on EGS may be in question now as well.
But to shrink by over 800, is insane amount.
New Fortnite skins will be made by AI.
ErdenGeboren
Those 830 employees obviously cost more than the billions in net revenue gained. /s
nurpleclamps
Prints a billion dollars a year but they need to cut a bunch of $60000 salarys. Yeah ok suuuure.
dackAllah
lmao they don’t need better talent or more people to help out, no way, not the biggest game of all time… Oh Donald Mustard leaving isn’t a red flag either! Nothing to see here…
Bubbaganewsh
I got a few free games a while ago from EGS but haven’t logged in for a long time. I have zero desire for free games from them tbh as it’s just another launcher I would need. I didn’t install it when I built my last PC and haven’t thought about it once since. There are far better options out there.

I suspect his store is still a money sink to have been of help. But after firing 850 people, he can now give more free games to a store most still ignore

his bonus is ‘financial sound’ too.
