Outside of games that require DX12 Ultimate support, so Alan Wake 2, the RTX 3050 doesn’t stand a chance, and never could. It’s only about as powerful as a GTX 1070.

Generally, the RTX 3050 is complete garbage – there’s almost no way to frame a situation where it makes sense. Unless you absolutely need Cuda, or pricing in your region is way different from pricing in the US, the RX 6600 is the better choice and has been for a few years.

The 6GB varient has the advantage of not needing supplemental PCIe power, but it’s even weaker at about GTX 1060 performance, and only has 6GB of VRAM. It would make more sense to buy a used RX 5700 XT and new PSU for around the same price – you’d be getting 1080 Ti levels of performance then.

Or, if you get a good deal on it used, actually just buy a GTX 1080 Ti and new PSU instead of the RTX 3050.

I’m still thrilled with my 2070 super I got for a steal off eBay last year.

Ppl shit on 4060 while 3050 6gb exists and it came in 2023 and besides lower vram it also has less frames than 8gig variant. 1080ti jokes aside is not something I would consider since it had pretty hot vram plus it possibly mined for many years so it feels like a gamble gpu that can potentially die soon plus it eats ton of power so not a perfect option for budget build.

  5. I been having an amazing time with 2080Ti. I feel that this card is still relevant until 2026.

1080ti over a brand new 3050 ? It’s taking a gamble on an ancient (but good) card Vs a low performing (but still kinda capable) new (with 2yr warranty) card. I’d pick the latter.
