Weird, always knew Oni for being made by Bungie. Never knew Rockstar published it

Manhunt is absolutely the best game there is for late night, in the dark and stoned a fuck with a good set of headphones. Oh, and turn that radar OFF.

Oni was fun and I really liked the cyberpunk dystopia like Ghost in the Shell. It came at a time when anime in the US was big enough to be on Cartoon Network, so the aesthetic was where it needed to be. Just a shame it never took off as an IP.

Midnight Club, specifically 2 and 3, have always been my favorite R* games. Never played any of these pictured.

We all need to put some respect on Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis as well…

One of my all time favorite PS2 games was Smuggler’s Run 2.

Oni is an underrated gem. Not perfect by any means, but a very fun game. I didn’t actually realize that it was a Rockstar game.

Oni was my first PS2 game!

I highly doubt Manhunt will ever have a remake. Manhunt 2 was no where near as terrifying. The world wasn’t ready for how brutal it was

Oh, I know Oni.
I did a full Let’s Play of it back in the day.

Oni was such an interesting game for me to play on both the PS2 and PC to contrast the controls. With the PC keyboard and mouse, the recoil of kinetic guns was completely unmanagable, forcing you to use the (generally weaker) energy weapons. But on PS2, the thumbstick made it pretty easy to learn where to position it to practically aimbot away the recoil, making them super-strong. Made the difficulty quite a bit different.

I remember the Mac magazine ads for Oni. Always was interested in it

I totally forgot Oni existed. I had that on ps2 as a kid!

Manhunt 2 was a blast. 1 I barely played but remember it being alright.
The second game, I was like 10 when I played it, and remember how disturbing it was killing that gimp guy with the top of the toilet, or that guy in the sex dungeon that gets sawed in half.
Idk why my parents let me play that game lol

God *damn*, I was just transported. That game did quite a number on me when I was too young to play it. In the vein of “teaching my playground friends how to mime doing a backbreaker on me in a way that didn’t actually hurt me, so that when I was playing a disposable enemy in our games they could eliminate me in a very cool way.”
I hadn’t seen GITS yet, so I missed how much of the game was overt homage. But, remarkably, having now seen it: I think Oni’s plot holds up amazingly well on its on merits.
Plus: flinging people off roofs and into tanks of acid? Always a delight.
