Until you realize $200 dollars in 97 is equivalent to about $500 today

Sony is gonna be charging more than Nintendo used to pretty soon for games. Kind of ironic that the main selling point was that it was not only cheaper to manufacture discs but it cut the costs down by half. Now that games don’t even need that, games are still going up in price.

Minimum wage was $5.00 per hour before taxes in 1997. That means you took home $4.35 if you were lucky. $199.99 wasn’t a drop in the bucket.

Still have the N64. Had two PS1s at two different times.

I remember the day my mom randomly got my brother and I together, took us to Walmart and got us an N64 with goldeneye. On the way home she was staring at the receipt with a full on face palm. Lmao. That was a lot of dinero back then.

If you calculate for inflation, goldeneye would cost $158.27 today

Paying almost 160 USD for a game?

    Inflation adjusted of course

  15. Super_flywhiteguy

FF7 was worth its price tag. You would have had many hours of fun with it.
