Whenever Richard, Thorin or other journalists who actually care talk about the problem with orgs blatantly ignoring conflict of interest or general morality rules, very few people care because it sounds too much like “what if” hypotheticals.
But that’s exactly what these kinds of rules are for, you need to 100% eliminate the sheer possibility of anything weird like this happening, or the whole scene stands on a brittle surface of good faith that can crack at any moment. And now we finally see it crack first hand.
