I've seen a lot of people saying the PS5 is reaching its limits but honestly most "PS5" games are just upscaled/slightly upgraded PS4 games.
Until we're no longer saying "next-gen" when talking about a console that came out 4 years ago, I don't think we really need a Pro model.

It was only within the last year or two that the damn thing was ever readily available. It took FOREVER for them to get their supply chain figured out so that someone could just decided they wanted one and go to a store to buy one.
I have one, but the number of games that forced my hand there was SHORT.
They wasted so much time trying to develop live service games for PS5 that they forgot what actually makes the console sell.

It’s quite telling that the first game they showed in their presentation for ps5 pro was a ps4 game (TLOU 2).
It’s also kinda puzzling that they’re trying to sell higher res textures and ray tracing and all when they admitted that 75% of players choose performance mode for frames. I mean the pro will not give you a frame rate bump from what has been shown, it’s still 60fps but at 4K. Kinda moot when you’re already getting 60.
There hasn’t really been ps4 games in 2 years now other than games people here wouldn’t care about like the sports games. Jedi survivor is the only recent game I can think of still getting put on ps4.

Helldivers 2 forced me to get one and not post launch hysteria Helldivers either. I played hd1 from 2015 up until the day HD2 came out. I even had a PS5 before oct 26 because I was so sure they were going to release 2 on liberty day. It was worth it.
What are these mythical “limits”? The PS5 has already hit it’s limit on almost every PS5 game.
It doesn’t have the power to run 4k 60 fps games from 4 years ago, forget games coming out in 2024 and beyond.
And being exclusive to one platform no longer makes sense financially for any game devs.

PS5 has so many good gacha games coming soon but I’m still not up grading to it because it’s such an unattractive looking console that it stands out in my home with it’s ugliness.
Part of the reason was that getting a PS5 was impossible for a long time. So people just kept PS4 and forgot about the PS5 altogether, as all game still released on PS4 anyway.

Consoles need to be cheaper or go down in price over time. We wouldn’t run into this problem if they were lower in price.
I love my PS5 but 4 years in and there’s only been a handful of games I feel like were worth it. That’s my main issue ultimately… Why buy a new console when even the company who made it isn’t even pumping out games for it? Sony has how many studios? Where tf are the games?
Sorry but just the load times and the fact the ps5 dosnt sound like an airbus in taxi was enough for the upgrade.

To play devil’s advocate, Consoles are just… Specialized computers for games. Just like how PC parts can range, the PS4, PS4 pro, PS5, and PS5 pro could be viewed in that same lens letting gamers still have the opportunity to play the newer games.
But as a console player, I am frustrated that the machine I bought may never realize its full potential since the devs have to cater to such a wide audience.
even though the original PS5 is cheaper to produce now then it was at launch. (smaller heat pipes) its now more expensive in many countries. If they did some decent price cuts people would buy them.
Devs still gotta make games work on the seriesS Xbox. The minimal line is not going to move much.
They need to give people a reason to get a ps5. Make bloodborne 2 and only release it on ps5

As a Brazilian we are still waiting for ps5 to go on sale due to how mind numbingly expensive they are here.
In fact it was super funny seeing people complaining about scalpers for months and here in Brazil stocks were full because nobody had the money to buy them.

As someone who has never owned a PS4, I love my PS5.
Console gamers need to understand it’s not the 2010s anymore. Dev cycles are longer. Costs are way higher. Low interest rates are gone. If you want games that feel “next gen,” that is the price you pay: less games that cost more to buy.
You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Gamers need to accept that in order to meet their (often unreasonable) demands on how a game looks and how long it is, companies will have to take much longer to develop games, and they will end up costing consumers more in the long run.
Because you all want remakes and that’s what you are getting. I am saying this for decades, that re-games should stop. I want new games, not the same game, just with slightly better graphics, for 5 times the original price. Also consoles are scam either way. The only reason why consoles exist is to sell the same thing infinitely. Sometimes even the same game, without any changes or changes being very minor. That’s why PC will always be better. You don’t have to rebuy the same games. You don’t care if it will have backward compatibility. Because you may practically play 99% of the old games without problem. You buy them once and they are available even if you buy 5 more computers. Meanwhile games either work or don’t work in PS4 > PS5. And then they sell old games from old consoles as a “retro packs”.
We need to start making PS2 games again.
