G2 hunter interviews and other things related to G2

I only listened to a bit so I can't summarize it all. I have enough activity to upload a YouTube link :D. Video source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znnqNhs9a70&t=1s.

  • First lan(cologne) after the covid era, just stay in the room alone with a pc for 3-4 days and don't open the window LoL.
  • Nexa doesn't want igl (never wanted) anymore and niko and hunter's idea is keep and make him an anchor/lurker but g2 still chose to kick him. Team including niko, monesy, hunter, nexa and aleksib according to hunter's option is great team.
  • Decisions are made by the management staffs, sometimes they ask the players but mostly it's still the management staffs. All decisions about roster moves are made by them, players usually only give opinions on which players they can bring in, not kicks(I hear and understand that way.). Hunter means g2 is usually the one who suggests benching someone and asks if the players agree but the way he said it, g2 sometimes ignores the players opinions. For example the case of nexa or maybe even hooxi recently.
  • When discussing with g2 hunter and nexa were told that their team would be hunter, nexa, shox, kenny and amanek but after signing they said shox would leave for Vita LOL.
  • They tried to get another igl (one of them was alex). Hooxi is the third choice.
  • Hunter was asked to do igl at least 5 times in g2. He was even asked to be an igl before niko joined and the team's main igl was on the ct side.
  • Hunter hates having to change players because they had to rebuild from scratch.
  • He also hinted that bench aleksib belongs to xqtzzz and the former French manager, not peca (I think this is nothing new because xqtzzz himself admitted it. In this stream, xqtzz also praised hunter and apex as two hardest working players he has worked with and hunter can become good igl).
  • Hunter feels very sorry when Nexa was kicked.
  1. Here are some interviews where players talked about roster moves: – In mid 2023 g2 asked them about bench hooxi but players tried to keep him and also told hooxi to improve because they won't be able to defend him anymore if he doesn't (according to swani Source: https://www.hltv.org/news/39345/swani-interview-g2-almost-kicked-hooxi-before-cologne-2023-anti-strat-examples-coaching-g2). Hunter also said in video that if it was the back then, the roster would probably be changed again.
  • According to hooxi's recent interview: "I talked with him (and everyone else on the team individually) after I got the news in London. While I got some feedback I never really heard anything that would be bench feedback worthy."
  • Hooxi about taz:"I was very happily surprised with him at the start, but at some point, I think his priorities switched a bit in the team and we never really came back on track. This is something I really wish I could be a part of." Source: hltv.org/news/39351/hooxi-interview-benc..
  • Interviewer:"During the break, you got malbsMd and Snax. Can you share the role you played in that decision, with peca being the General Manager?" Taz:" We were talking, so it was both a management decision and my idea. I'm just happy I have that trust from the management. And I think they deserve some slack for going through with getting these players." Source: https://www.hltv.org/news/39431/taz-its-really-hard-to-play-against-us-i-dont-think-we-have-a-weakness-in-the-team
  • Niko:" As soon as Swani told us he was leaving, G2 started looking into the options that we may have. There were a couple of coaches on the table, but G2 decided to go with TaZ."
  • NiKo:" I never said that I don’t have any power on the team, but I definitely don’t have the power that most people think. Obviously, when an organization wants to build the team around certain player(s), they value their opinion a bit more heavily, if that makes sense. Ever since I joined G2, most of the changes that have happened have been against my say/vote. G2 has always relied on management and coaching staff, and they are the ones making the calls and moves." Source: hltv.org/news/37751/niko-jks-would-be-ou.. So i think it's clear that players don't have much voice in team.
  • Edit 1: About Xqtzzz and aleksib, I'm surprised there are people who don't know about it. After xqtzzz resigned as g2 coach he had a stream talking about it. He said that he was the one who suggested benching aleksib because of the difference in vision, playing style and also that aleksib was too micromanager but he wanted the players to have some space to play on their own and g2's manager at that time (not peca) chose to trust him. Xqtzzz also said that some players on the team also agreed to this
  • Edit 2: About monesy and falcons. I didn't know about this and didn't see anyone mention it until now. Monesy: "I wanted to go with NiKo wherever he went," m0NESY states when discussing the rumors that surrounded him during the off-season. "This guy gave me so much knowledge about this game, and I still needed to collect the rest of the puzzle you know (laughs). Just being with him in the same team is amazing. We have a great atmosphere, we understand each other perfectly, we tell each other where we see we can be better, we make mistakes and we correct them and discuss them. It's so nice, you can’t imagine. It’s so cool to understand you dont sit in one place, you do everything to become a better version of yourself. That's why I wanted to go with him. In the end I got another offer that I was interested in, but G2 didn't want to sell me." Source: https://www.hltv.org/news/37945/top-20-players-of-2023-m0nesy-4 . So maybe he will leave for the falcons with niko for real this time because of his rumored 3 year contract
  • Edit 3: Niko about on nexa move. I just re-read niko's interview and found something strange: Hooxi on podcast- "It was a mistake to bench JKS. He said that NiKo was in talks with Falcons, and they were sure he would leave G2. NiKo would be hard to replace, so they wanted to bring in two new players and let JKS go, making changes to his role to compensate for the loss of NiKo. Looking back, it was a mistake, and they rushed things. NiKo stayed, and G2 was left with few options to replace JKS, so everyone agreed on Nexa." Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1e2avfi/hooxi_on_his_time_in_g2_summary_from_a_danish/ . According to this post, if I understand correctly, niko stayed before nexa was signed, right? But in niko's interview (source above), niko said: "It definitely does, because I would be fine if that were true. I would be like, 'Okay, they are right, it's me deciding it, and it's whatever.' But it's really not like that, especially in this case. Justin would be out of the team whether I left G2 or whether I stayed; he was out of the team before I decided that I was staying. I didn't have any say in this, not even a vote. G2 was discussing everything without me, and all team negotiations happened without me. I came back to the team and was told that Justin was out and nexa was in. And I was like, 'Okay, I'm going to just work with what I have. I'm going to do my best and that's it." So did niko lie or did g2 discuss choosing nexa without consulting niko even though they knew he was staying. Or hooxi or op described it wrongly?

I just added and edited a little bit for everyone to read easier

  2. > • He also hinted that bench aleksib belongs to xqtzzz and the former French manager

Of course bald fraud was behind that.

So monesy x Niko is probably (definitely) gonna be gone in the near future?

  4. LordBlackadder1214

insane how they could have had niko, hunter, nexa (before he became washed),aleksib and monesy on the same lineup, a lineup with literally 0 role overlaps and insane potential but management and coach chose to add in jackz just for the ‘vibes’, i swear to god g2 cs management are the biggest paycheck stealers on the planet next to astralis.

  5. XvS_W4rri0r

Fuck XTQZZZ kicks aleksib and then quits on the team right after.

  6. Mahoganychicken

As if Hunter and NiKo wanted to keep Nexa.

  7. lookmasilverone

I feel like resigning nexa was the management like “here its what you wanted, now stop complaining about kicking jks”.

Overall this g2 looks like a complete mess and Stewie’s comment and a couple of vlog really emphasized how dysfunctional the team is.

It’s actually quite a shame since they are doing decently well with this much internal issues. Just imagine what they can do without these issues.

  10. >Edit 1: About Xqtzzz and aleksib, I’m surprised there are people who don’t know about it.

There was one time someone on this sub called me Niko’s boyfriend after a few exchanges because he thinks Nexa IGL > Aleksib IGL and G2 shouldn’t have kicked nexa. Sometimes people just miss the news

No matter how washed he was according to stats, kicking Nexa right after they won IEM Dallas and dominated the Tier 1 competition feels scummy, it was evident Nexa knew he’s about to get kicked at blast.
