That’s pretty worrying for the scene if G2 don’t want to pay a top five player in the world. Why would you risk pissing M0nesy off like that? People joked that Malbs could possibly be Niko’s replacement and it’s going to come true this fast when Malbs has been one of the best entries in the world?
Why would Niko even want to leave probably the most stacked roster firepower-wise? Falcons are cancer for the other orgs. Orgs are barely turning a profit with sick rosters like Vitality who had to ask Magisk and Zonic to take pay cuts and then we have blood money just inflating salaries.
Something has to give player-wise unless orgs are just going to start bailing. You can’t compete against oil money unless you’re a profitable gambling site. Is that the future we want? Is this what players are going to let happen because they just want a bag without caring about the health of the scene? Niko doesn’t even come from a poor family. They owned a gaming cafe and Niko was basically molded from a young age to be this player. He should be rewarded for his talent, but at what cost to the scene?

leaving a team with malbs and monesy seems a bit crazy to me, i honestly dont see this happening unless its an absurd amount of money. like enough money to where he overlooks the major he still hasnt gotten. g2 is in a solid place to rebuild from if niko leaves since they got malbs, but if the goal is trophies then g2 is already there with this team, they just need time, so i cant imagine niko leaving.

I remember someone writing a theory that the reason malbs was signed to g2 as an anchor was for the possibility that he would one day assume the entry roles. if the Niko to falcons deal goes through, I’d wonder who G2 will get as an anchor

I’m not trying to deny these leaks, but it’s very difficult for me to believe that G2 would get rid of Niko. The only scenario in which that would make sense is if they are either leaving CS, (which I highly doubt), or they are downsizing heavily (which I also doubt). I guess the only possible thing is that they have A LOT of faith in their other pieces?
If this happens it would be very interesting. I don’t see G2 staying at all competitive without Niko, I also don’t know what they would do about Hunter or Monesy. From the outside, it seems like Monesy has mostly been sticking with G2 due to Niko, but if that’s gone, then he might look for other options. It would also be difficult to imagine a G2 with Hunter but without Niko.
Getting rid of Niko will end up being either a brave, shockingly great move, or an obvious and dumb blunder. I doubt the status quo will remain for G2.
