Man it really still looks great to this day. I remember only one kid at school who had a computer that could run it and he was very popular for a long time.
The vistas are still breathtaking and the gameplay still pretty slick.
I never particularly enjoyed the last act but escaping the island and the fight on the Aircraft carrier was still fucking epic.

Far Cry 6 which came out in 2021 doesn’t have a max lod that looks as good as that with its own Dunia engine. Crytek were graphical wizards.

that game is almost 20 years old and still looks better than some of the recently released titles. Crysis came with a fee sandbox tool. I remember playing with it to spawn hunderds or thousands of explosive barrels and stuff. Good times.

Maybe slightly rose tinted glasses but even some games from 2023 don’t look much improved over crisis on top graphics..
Especially not with as much destruction and interaction with the environment.

This screenshot isn’t Crysis(2007). It’s Crysis Remastered (2017). That oversaturated color pallet gives it away. Not that Crysis 2007 wasn’t impressive. It was ahead of its time. In fact I prefer the look of 2007 Crysis over the remastered. The colors in the original are much more realistic. The remastered has better global lighting and water effects and can run on modern windows.

The most amazing thing about Crysis is that it’s not just detailed on the macro scale, but the micro scale as well. If you walk up to the trees, foliage, structures, or water, they are just as stunning up close.

It was truly something else back then and can only be fully understood if you were there and saw it 😁 in general moments like seeing ps2 graphics or ps3 for the first time are things that just don’t happen these day no matter how good game looks 😁 atleast nowhere near like then , i remember few games that o couldn’t believe how good it looked lol .. crysis is the last time I felt that feeling when I first saw it in 2008

Some trees could be shot down, ferns moved when you went through them, and all in an gorgeous open world map, the future of gaming was going to be awesome.
But everyone quickly moved onto Half Life 2 and saying how it was ground breaking with it’s liner game play, in a brown world, and wooo look I can pick up things.
Fully expect to be downvoted now that I said that HL2 is shit.
