I just cleaned the liquid metal off my cpu and heatsink. CPU was properly cleaned but there's a stain or dried patch on my heatsink that I can't remove. Must I remove it before adding lm or csn I just add it and massage it in?
Can use metal polish something like flitz or brasso will clean it up nicely if it bothers you.

You can ignore it. But it will have an impact on performance. Hard to say how big of an impact but it wouldn’t be huge. You should do your best to get as much off as possible with the tools you have though. You need something abrasive like a kitchen cleaning pad. You just want to get the hard crusted on parts off.
