Does the 5800X3D vs 5900X – perform better at 1440p ?

Hi guys,

I have a 3070 OC GTX + 16 gig of ram and played on 24 inch 240hz…. on native and had pretty mid performance I mean like 222 max fps because i play on Gsync + Vsync and on High settings as thats what is recommended for competitive play now a days going by what most pros use.

I have now gone to 1440p monitor 240hz and obviously native is even more laggy even if I drop everything to the lowest…. the feeling is like when I'm being swung by someone and we are exchanging shots my spray almost feels like the m4s not consistent in its animation or sound like it skips a bullet or w/e because the animation is lagging.

I have a decent technical background since I have been trouble shooting since early source however I cannot wrap my head around the stuttering and frame drops sometimes its in spawn with no one around ingame latency goes to from normal 4.0 or 6 to about 12 and 30…. most the time in gun fights hovers on 8 or 12…

Nuke is a problematic map for me outside when I'm CT and they throw smokes over and storm outside…. same goes for holding B site on Mirage and dont get me started on DM i'm lucky to get 150 frames at times with the stutter. I use to joke DM was shot in a back match now its Frame for Frame match.

I've looked into upgrading my CPU as I'm on an AM4 board and fairly broke with already buying the monitor only because my old one broke it forced my hand and I didnt realize the gap between the two native resolutions would be so big and since my 3070 is an entry to 1440p I thought it would be okay.

The fix it now solution would be to upgrade to AM5 but I really dont want to since my stuffs 3 years old… and runs fine in every other game like OW2 and Valorant and Warzone.

There are sales going on at the moment because of end of financial year… I'm seeing the 5800X3D going for nearly the same price as the 5700X3D which in my head I'm telling myself is a better deal.

I'm wondering should I do that as the extra cache would help with frame drops or % lows and if anyone with similar hardware to myself has changed to that option and seen any benefit ?

I'm open to buying intel chip and mobo however I have no clue where to start as there is so much back and forward over AMD vs Intel in gaming like people complaining about intel over heating but… I have very good water cooler and kept the bracket for the intel board in the box.

My last option would be to go for if the below is not worth the bang for buck please post a intel board + cpu that is a better more cost effective option all I want is 300 frames and not to drop below 240hz in premier.

This sounds more like a gpu issue as increasing the resolution shouldn’t increase load on cpu that much. Can you check what’s your GPU usage in game during a match.

Make sure you have FSR on and HDR on performance that should help too if it isn’t on already
