Here’s a quick self-portrait piece I made, inspired by the style of 80s/90s sci-fi movies.
I adore old sci-fi flicks… There’s something about that whole period of time that allowed media to not be perfect. The stories weren’t perfect, the effects weren’t perfect, the acting wasn’t perfect. But it was still awesome!
I feel that in video games, movies, and even music nowadays, everything is constantly getting more and more polished. Things that didn’t bother us back then now look like mistakes and imperfections.
It’s weird how it seems our perception of perfection is becoming more and more defined. Like how some early 3D video games look terrible now, but back then they felt amazing.
I wonder where this progress stops or if it’s, in fact, infinite. This beauty cult has to come to an end eventually. I wonder what comes after 🤔
