Undervolting for the first time i9 14900hk, need help

Hello, I just got a razerblade 16 with an i9 14900HK and it was running a bit too hot.

Looking online I found that a common solution is to undervolt the chip using throttle stop.

I was able to kinda fix the issue but I would really like to get a second opinion from someone who is not doing this for the first time as I am.

I ran various tests, initially in 3d mark and after in both 3dmark and Cinebench, and got down to around 50 degrees when idle both in battery and plugged to AC and 80 in benchmarks using a combination of both throttlestop settings and synapse profiles.

I documented the results of the various tests I took in an excel file avaiable here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bmz7TL9rt7BTvtJDdJIQT0V4i-Hz6lyls0yMX2PmyRg/edit?usp=sharing

The spreadsheet is split into 3 sheets, the following is a description of them:

Sheet 1: tests in 3d mark, on the top left are the stock system config results and after there are the: just with the Speed Shift EEP set to 200 for the “on the go” profile and 32 for the gaming profile and C1E marked (all the other boxes in the initial panel are not checked for both profiles). After that, I tried different levels of undervolting up until -100 where the system crashed when in the gaming profile and turbo mode in synapse. As you can see I got basically the same temperatures all over but I managed to improve the scores in 3d mark for up to 12.1k in the turbo mode with the (what I think to be) stable configuration.

Sheet 2: I proceeded to test the “stable” configurations in Cinebench to check the results there. As reported the gaming profile throttled and got worst results then the on the go profile (probably because of throttling) so I decided to switch both profiles to Speed Shift EEP set to 200, leave the gaming profile with this new setting and focus on bringing the temperatures down in the on the go profile.

Sheet 3: To try bringing the temperatures down I checked the disable turbo option and lost 20 degrees; I obviously also lost a lot in performances but I’m using the system right now and for chrome/light programming tasks it is really fine.

Let me know if you have any questions and thank you even just for leaving a comment 🙂
