While the starter maps are very important to a zombies experience’s life cycle, I feel as if DLC 1 was just as, if not more important in keeping people playing the game. Doesn’t matter how good the starting map is when the DLC 1 map blows, the rest of the game is sure to follow.
I’m sure the easy and most popular answer here will be DE, but this community is known for varying opinions so I’m just curious. Let me know which you hate too!
Personally it’s close between DE & Ascension, so much nostalgia for BO1. Absolutely hate firebase Z and it actually made me stop playing CW until very recently coming back for the eggs.

I would play die rise over any of these maps tbh, maybe verruckt too
the only reason i like die rise is because it has the sliquifier

Without a doubt, it’s Dead of the Night for me.
Ascension is the best map so it doesn’t matter if its dlc 1 or not.
Base game is Town/Grief (BO2) Had way too many fun times with friends on that.
DLC 1 is DE (BO3)
DLC 2 is Call of the Dead (BO1)
DLC 3 is Mob of the Dead (BO2)
DLC 4 is OG Origins (BO2)

The map was so popular and so well received that they literally remastered it in the same game it was first released in.

As much as I want to say verruckt because I love that map, I’d be lying to myself if I didn’t answer with DE
The greatest one? Easily Der Eisendrache. Played that map so much I got sick of it.
My favorite? Dead of the Night. Wonder weapons are amazing, ambience is spot on and the enemy pool is challenging enough.

Hands down DE, but I gotta show some love for ascension and DOTN. Ascension was so huge for the mode, first map with an EE, first map with stamin up and PHD. And Dead of the Night is just a ton of fun. Great atmosphere, great EE, super fun wonder weapon.
Verruckt then ascension in 2nd place.
