[GHOSTS] Why was cod ghosts hated so much?

I played the game on my ps3 and I liked the multiplayer alot and the campaign felt unique and original (still I hate the cliffhanger I agree it sucks) yet I see alot of hate for the game. I'm not a cod ghosts fan boy in fact cod 4 is my fav cod but this game still holds a special place in my heart because of all the memories I made on it. Comment the criticism for the game bc I'm curious.

Nothing wrong if you enjoy games others didn’t like, just genuinely mid ahh hell.

There wasn’t enough furries and pop singer skins.

  3. FIreBoyi

if i remember correctly wasn’t it something to do with way too big maps and too fast of a ttk?

Because it was bad: It’s campaign was badly written had a plot hole every 5 seconds and the missions were drawn out to long and boring nothing is explained. Multiplayer was atrocious oversized maps campers everywhere worst kill streaks. If you like it that’s fine. But majority of people didn’t like it the hate was justified on every part of this game.

Idk extinction was pretty fun too, not as good as zombies, but still fun

For others it might be blind hate but I gave this game so many chances and not once did I ever enjoy playing it

Thats not to say it has its slight few upsides. The perk system was cool, and could be further tweaked/experimented should devs return to it

    It pionered customization in cod

The ChainSAW and Honey badger were fun, memorable guns

The MP is the ultimate case of ‘Should have been 12vs12′, the maps were obviously made with more players in mind and an average match is a series of two minute runs without seeing anyone, followed by a shot in the back

Campaign is a bit more complicated, I would say its worth a play, but ugh, some crucial problems:

-first of all, they absolutely should have stuck hard with the resistance theme; showing your army get completely deleted not just once, but twice and then still having you start missions with your own tanks, battleships, helis and even gear for a bloody space assault was so sloppy and completely removed the game’s identity

-The plot is poorly executed; Who Rorke is should have been revealed earlier, what turned him villanous should have been revealed later; Elias’ death scene got weakened with too much crappy dialogue, a brotherhood storyline with a mute protagonist is ridiculous, the least interesting members of the crew get the most focus and that ending with the ‘defeated monster comes back’ is an incredebily stupid trick from horror movies and never fucking should have appeared anywhere else (hell, its stupid crap even in them horror movies), he should have just simply knocked you out in the water

Of course then there is the release time, coming at the peak of Modern Military Shooter fatigue and one year after BO2, against BF4s MP… rip

The maps were just way too big. I felt like I was playing battlefield with 12 players instead of 100

Really slow paced and campy Multiplayer. The hitreg in that game was very generous and it made the average TTK very fast despite the mathematical killing speed of the weapons not being anything too crazy. IEDs were also ludicrously OP and made camping that much easier to do. Couple this with the launch maps being very big on average, coupled with how OP the Battle Hind was since there was no anti-air secondary weapon launcher in Ghosts, sprinkle in the fact that assault pointstreaks still feed into each other, and you have a recipe for people camping big time for big pointstreaks.

The average TTK complaint was so big that they even tried making a playlist called Heavy Duty, which was TDM with extra health, that ended up going nowhere.

I can never outright hate Ghosts though, despite its faults. Extinction is my baby.

it was campy and boring compared to bo2 . it was the first time where everyone stayed on the previous game instead of moving on . the maps were garbage the streaks sucked . it was garbage compared to bo2 .

  11. ah_manwhy

The maps wasn’t really good but alien extinction was really good

  12. Useful-Reference420

Gun play was great but thats about it. Maps were so fucking big, which i actually liked, made getting a kill a bit more rewarding, but other than that, its str8 shit

Alot of players only play MP and at launch, MP sucked. We just had one of the best ever in BO2. So expectations were high but they fell way short. Maps bar a few were awful and the killstreaks were either OP and abused (like IED) or crap like the satcom.

However, the DLC for Ghosts was a game changer. We got the Maverick, its A2 DMR and Ripped plus some truly awesome maps. The field orders were a great touch especially the Predator and Michael Myers streaks.

Campaign was decent (not best, not worst) but had some good set pieces and mission ideas. Extinction was awesome and still is.

So yeah at launch and based purely on MP it wasn’t good.

    Multiplayer –

I loved the multiplayer maps. Each one of them had some sort of secret/interactive part of them that changed up gameplay, and the unique streaks in the care packages for each map was fun too. And the map sizes never really bothered me, cus theres no-one forcing you to play the maps you don’t like.

Plus i loved the guns, they were all really fun

The perk system was great too, being able to sacrifice weapons/gear for extra perk slots really changed up how you would play

    Campaign-

I thought the campaign was good. Hated the cliffhanger at the end and that it never got continued. But it wasnt bad, i atleast enjoyed it.

    Extinction-

Genuinely a really good mode that can offer alot of fun. Only thing is, **dont** think of it as a zombies mode, cus it isnt, it is its own thing. That was most ppl’s gripes with the mode, that it wasnt zombies, and it wasnt anywhere as good as it. I loved extinction, it was genuinely a good time each time I played it

I loved the game as a whole, and think its just pretty good overall👍

  15. Cazter64

The maps are massive and the guns kill way too fast. Kill streaks also sucked ass, with the OP Dog and stupid box UAV.

  16. Brawlerz16

    The main thing? Timing.

We literally just came off one of the strongest stretches in gaming OF ALL TIME. And capping off that stretch was what many consider to be the best COD of all time to this very day. So imagine the whiplash of going from the pinnacle of the franchise to Ghosts. It wasn’t even that Ghosts was a bad game. It’s just that the standard and quality of the games before it was *monstrous* beyond belief.

The hate has died down because we got A LOT worse games, but the main reason imo is because of what it had to live up to.

  17. CyxSense

Because it came out after Black Ops 2. That’s the only reason.

  18. SickPois0on

because it actually sucks big time , bad campaign bad mp the maps in mp where so garbage , extinction wasn’t good but was the best part of it , so you basically paid 60$ to get a half ass campaign where the plot was all over the place a garbage mp with even more garbage maps a zombies clone mode that wasn’t good until you bought dlcs.
so yeah that why people hated ghost.

  19. ElementXGHILLIE

Too big of maps, and too we just came off of BO2 expectations were high

  20. LumbaJ4cked

It wasn’t a good transition coming from MW3 and Bops 2 then go into that Ghost multiplayer

  21. RustyDawg37

Because until vanguard arrived it was definitely the worst cod. I hate infinite warfare too but thats a preference. Vanguard and ghosts are pieces of shit for different reasons but still pieces of shit.

  22. JackoClubs5545

(maybe) hot take: Ghosts had the best DLC of any COD game all time.

  23. _Funsyze_

It was my first CoD game so while everyone else was saying it was trash I had no frame of reference lmao

  24. BaxxyNut

Because people were bad at it and wanted the same game copy pasted every year. It was too ambitious

  25. AdBudget5468

The game got a lot of hate for no reason whatsoever but there were somethings that were actually pretty bad in it like the textures or how we never got a sequel or some of the writing was a little too fast for its own good

  26. HorseOfAction

10 point perks were cool, could’ve used some streamlining but it wasn’t a bad idea

  27. Because comp players/youtubers hated it so everyone else hopped on the bandwagon and hated it because those people did.

In actuality, it had a couple bad maps in the base game, and that was apparently enough for people to start calling the entire game the worst thing ever.

  28. They way people played and social media people talking about it and the hivemind that followed them
