Call of Duty: Zombies

This map is underrated IMO (Alpha Omega)

I just completed the easter egg for the first time and I really feel like this map catches some undeserved hate.

It seems this is generally considered one of the weakest maps on Black Ops 4 and the weakest of the DLC maps. The latter may be true (haven't played enough AE or Tag to decide, I like DOTN more), but I definitely think this beats some, maybe all of the base game maps. I prefer it over Blood of the Dead easily, haven't really played enough Classified or Voyage to have an opinion on them, and tbh I think I like this map better than IX.

The EE quest on this map is really enjoyable to me and was quite easy as well (took me 2 serious attempts). The entire boss fight segment is awesome, starting from the nuclear explosion. I also found doing the elemental Ray Gun Mk2 quests to be fairly fun, even though they aren't really useful to the main quest. I especially love the charge/explosive variant.

A criticism I see quite a lot is that the map lacks personality or originality, and while I definitely think it might not be the strong suit of the map, it's definitely not 'just a nuketown remake.' The map is expanded quite a lot from regular nuketown on the surface (the zombies version of which I never really liked) and the facility is a cool addition. Things like Rushmore, the soundtrack (round change and boss fight in particular), playing as both Primis and Ultimis, and details like the map becoming extremely saturated and vibrant when power is on all add a bunch of character that makes it stand out from nuketown.

Another criticism I suppose people have is just that it's on BO4, but personally I like the overall mechanics of this game, including the perk and class system (and the Hud? It might not be very good but it's really not that bad imo)yg

I understand how this is a bit underwhelming as a penultimate Aether story map when we could've gotten something like The Great War, but beyond 'what ifs' I think this map holds its own and is pretty underrated.

Anyways since I just finished the EE for the 1st time I wanted to write down my thoughts since I had a bunch to say about this map.

What are your thoughts on Alpha Omega? Do you think it's underrated, accurately rated, maybe even overrated?

Cool vibe I agree, I love the round change music and the overall atmosphere. But it doesn’t stop it lacking in wonder weapon effectiveness, and porting a map from blackout

All bo4 maps are underrated imo. Lots of people don’t like bo4 and that’s understandable. But broadly speaking, they’re generally disliked but the quality is THERE

Personally, this map didn’t age well for me. Story and EE wise, its actually decent, but the gameplay doesn’t cut it for me. Close quarters map design is fine and can be a good challenge, but with BO4 super sprinters and those stupid unbalanced Nova bombers, it can be really unfair. The PaP mechanic is also very dumb, having to fix it every few rounds with no way of avoiding it.
