  1. Should have talked about the Doppler and Gamma Doppler changes. Phase 2 Dopplers got buffed AGAIN, and now look like black pearls but even better

  2. One point that no one has picked up on is that this may incentivize people with weapon skins to modify them by adding a sticker (or getting the stat-trak version), so that they are visibly seen as non-renting weapon skins, whereas if you leave your skin unblemished, you run the risk of players calling that out: "poor renter boi" or something.

  3. as i think renting is just to make people who feel uncomfortable to spend 2 euro for a random item (which is probably going to worth like five cents) spend those 2 euro each week
and imagine how many people like that are out there
+few mils each week i guess

  4. More case inflation to artificially boost price on Steam Market, This isn't goodwill from Steam, its designed to make more money.

  5. Renting isn't always more expensive than buying – it all depends on the state of the market and how long you'd like the skins to rent for

  6. Isn’t it gonna change everything? What about all the cases opened because of hunting the reds..? You get every skin for 2.5$ but before you had to spend 200$ to have a decent chance at getting a good skin. So they must loose a lot of money right?

  7. rent is a better option for casuals and a better option to buy a skin for 300 and the skin costs 1 year later 50 bucks

  8. "It's not going to cost you anything"
Y'know, besides the 1 madafakin' thousand bucks of disposable income for a handful of skins.
Like, sure, you are not technically "losing" money (ignoring the fact that you most likely will lose money in the long term), but having a thousand dollars of disposable income and spending it on skins is absolutely insane, especially when you now have the option to spend 4 dollars per week for basically the same result (if you don't care about trading that is).

  9. Thats a geat change to the cases. Some of them will be opened and basically wasted on the rental option. Increasing demand and value over time. Great change

  10. Just my few predictions and observations:
-> Anyone who bought a Kilowatt skin can show that they own it by applying a sticker / nametag. You cant put those on rentals
-> As those rentals consume the case, supply will be more limited, thus possibly lowering the supply of these cases (which doesnt mean higher prices at least in the short term however)
-> On a related note: Some countries (e.g. Belgium) are trying to ban lootboxes. Could this be a possibility for valve to still have drops for those players?
    – Just speculation, but this might have an implication for operation cases.

So imho this is a W. Why? Because these rentals wont 'destroy' current skins, however they might shorten supply. Then again, if this change keeps some countries in the case drop pool, so to speak, this might not be a problem. Remember: When the dust has settled, it will be easier to evaluate the changes. But this will take time.

  11. There's a flipside to this that, while very small, doesn't seem to be talked about. When renting the skins, the case is consumed and no skins are generated, nothing. No ST, no knives, no low floats, no high floats. Could this not miniscule-y and eventually drive up the price of the rented case? Since it will take more cases to generate skins? Not only the price of the case, but then the price of Stat Track skins, the Kukuris, and low/high floats? E: Ah, yeah. I posted this at 2 minutes into the vid.

  12. Won't this cause skin prices to go up, cause you will be deleting a case in order to rent them?

  13. This is a actually creating more scarcity and inflating skin pricing if they bam China skin farms.
So rare skins and floats will just go up in price, especially knives and gloves.

  14. Might actually be good for skins cause you lose supply of cases but you also lose supply of skins, so skins would be more scarce

  15. There are two impacts on the market:
    – Deflationary: Rented Skins / cases are completely "gone", out of the economy after experied
    – Inflationary: "Everybody" can have this nice looking AK now + less cases gonna be opened MAYBE
(+ Deflationary impact on Sticker market, nice)

  16. Valve will continue to earn money from people who open cases but now they will earn 2.20 week from players who would not have spent a penny otherwise. All this money Gaben and where are cobble cache and train? fuck aztec
