Fallout 76 was roundly criticized at launch for its overall quality (or lack thereof). However, it’s now over five years later, and the online action RPG, criticized for its various technical issues and misrepresenting the essence of Fallout, is in a far better state.
From more narrative-focused content, starting with Wastelanders and proceeding with the Brotherhood of Steel and revisiting Fallout 3’s The Pitt, to new quality-of-life features, it’s been quite the journey for Fallout 76. Not every new addition has met abject applause – Fallout 1st and the new Seasons Pass changes, for example – but the community is stronger than ever.
What should you know when looking to jump into Fallout 76 after all these years? What can new fans who just watched Amazon’s Fallout TV show expect, especially compared to the single-player games? Find out more here.

76 is great now. It's basically more Fallout 4 with some slightly altered Mechanics. Not to mention the ever changing events & free additions.
It's been fixed for YEARS!!!
I'm revisiting myself and enjoying FO76 a lot.
I might be fixed… but it's still not fun, lol. As a Fallout game, Fallout Shelter is infinitely more fun and more inline with the echos of the franchise. Fallout 4 and NV are just so much better than 76 could ever hope to be.
I rather give fallout 4 to play then 76 even if its singleplayer. The story is more important then random shooting people. Survival dificulty also brings some challenge and thinking. IF people love fallout 76 and want it fixed then it should. But best game stays the one with singleplayer story. Bethesda best at it.
The game isnt broken anymore. It still feels like a 360/ps3 game though. Its just more shiny than fallout 4.
I am proud of Howard. This is the First Fallout that requires no patches or hotfixes upon release. And works on all platforms.
it's been fixed for 4 years, you're just a cry baby with a grain of salt just milking asmuch as you can. Stop. get some help.
No Bethesda game is ever finally fixed 😂😂😂 but we still play the hell out of them
As long as it's an MMO, or has stuff like servers, then it will ALWAYS be a bad game to me. I want, what most people actually want, especially for Fallout, a SINGLE PLAYER GAME. Nobody was asking for, or wanted an MMO Fallout. But Bethesda has shown extreme greed over the past decade. And because of it they just don't release single player games anymore, except Starfield, which is just way to boring to really play. At the end of the day, they can do everything and anything they want to "fix it". But most Fallout fans (and it's the same for Elder Scrolls fans) just want Single player games.
I onced loved Bethesda games, and then as a publisher. But that's long gone at this point. People like me helped build Bethesda by buying ALL of their games. And how did they repay us? Well they invested the money WE gave them into EVERYBODY BUT US. And that is the truth. They decided to say F*** their hardcore fans, F*** the people who bought all of our games, F*** the people who were our biggest supporters. That's what Todd and his crew did. Having Starfield be the only single player game in a decade, made by Bethesda software (Stuff like doom is published by Bethesda, but it's a different studio making the game, ID studios I believe) is a kick in the balls to all of the original fans. But Bethesda has a way of doing things nowadays, and it's extreme greed, that's ALL. And honestly F*** them. They told me, and many like me to go f*** off a decade ago, well congrats Todd that's exactly what we've done. And that is why Xbox had to buy your dying studio. We never asked for yearly releases, or anything too much. All we wanted was a new game every 3 years or so, set in the Fallout or Elder scrolls universe. Preferably rotating between the 2. Games that are NOT garbage, micro transaction filled, live service crap. We have so far gotten exactly none of that in the last decade. And they wonder why so many of us hate them now. It's pretty obvious why, they chose to hate us first, we only retaliated.
8:59 Johnny Cage??
late, nice try hopping on the bandwagon youtuber to milk your audience after the show.
Game has been good for 2 years. Keep following the trend instead of having your own individuality you good for nothing channel.
I definitely love it and especially ever since the wastelanders update. I understand some people don't like the atom store and fallout 1st but with the free content that rolls out from this game there's literally no issue imo.
I tried it a few days ago and gave up on it.. the enemies are braindead and buggy.
Good to see so much updates for the game and if you add up all DLCs it's not cheap so after paying for all of those you would expect something more then what is actually delivers. The core game is still designed to get tired of the utterly boring but mandatory grinding quickly and it's pushing you paying even more in a form of subscription to get a decent experience. This all was an enormous letdown for me so I stopped playing the game completely.
God, it's been 6 years already? I feel old.
Hadn’t played in years tried to log on the other day and my account is banned and they haven’t responded to my support ticket in almost a week. So glad I was one of fools who supported this game at launch.
I decided to spend an evening playing 76, then 4. I decided to replay 4.
The show was so good it made me try 76 again and I’m actually having fun with friends. There is so much content it’s great.
Fallout: New Vegas is peak
It's messy and spiritless. Low hp build is cancer, any respecting (respecting players?) developer would cut it out instantly.
Its been good for more than a year or two 😝
It just feels like a multiplayer Fallout 4 mod now. But the dialogue can actually be better sometimes haha. It's not terrible!
not fully still having a few issues that where there a few years ago but its in a better spot
Tabbed out for a few seconds and tabbed back in at 2:42 and actually tried to shoot the ghoul.. lol fuck
It depends.
Game is playable. But, ever since release, there has been a major issue with many amd gpu users. Some weird oily/reflective surfaces. This doesn't show up with nvidia gpu's. Myself and many many amd users have exchanged directly with Bethesda support about this. Exchanging screenshots, system files, etc.. and quite a few years later, even on completely different computer builds with different motherboard, gpu… AMD cards still suffer from that.
I'm not certain if this is even related, but I had much better performance in Starfield with a higher tier of graphic settings than I do with Fallout 76. But wtv, that's computers. Will work ok on some systems, on others, just won't.
It's an average game now. I wouldn't play this over fallout 3, new Vegas, or 4. But jumping on for a couple games here an then is… entertaining
the worst part of this game is how slow leveling is, and the only real viable way to level is to spam events….. super fun bethesda….
Stash is still limited, you still need a subscription to play the game fully.
Tired of this excuse. Release it playable at launch or forever lick my 🥜 let’s be real at launch it was a pathetic cash grab.
every youtube channel jumping on the show's hype… lol
For me they’ve locked inventory weight and space behind a paywall, this is something I can never support.
A buddy tried getting me into it the other night, spent over an hour reading text and taking tests to get my backpack.. shit was pretty ridiculous and boring as all fuck..
We then learned they have since updated the game and made the backpack instantly available..
So all that work and those tests were for naught..
Super fun.
No. No it has not.
Random "server not responding," random buzz crashes, random glitches when entering or exiting power armour, random crashes on load screens, random game closing to home screen, randomly showing friends as offline when they're standing next to you in game, random bugs with questlines and challenges unable to be completed are all still big problems in the game.
Im no "hater" by any means, I love 76, been playing for a couple years now. But the game definitely needs more love and attention from Bethesda.
Wait does it have a single player story or does it have to be played with other people?
Why are you calling this Fallout 6?
