It should go like this : 4mln$ for 1st place ; 2mln$ for 2nd place ; 1mln$ for 3rd place ; 4-8th 600k$ . So overall this is 10mln$ and for valve this is 1week work 💀
Dota 2 had so large price pools because some percentage from the purchases people made from battlepass (in Dota it was named compendium and u could buy levels for it, something like the stars we see in CS) was going straight for it. Has been many years and im too lazy to google it, but i belive 20% of the money you spend on it was going straight into the price pool?
Making so much money from the game and don't care about problems that are in the game CS2 since it was launched. And don't even get me started with the Team Fortress 2 situation
if i was valve, i would giveaway 1000€ to each cs player which has been playing cs for a certain amount of time and i would increase the prize pool of the major to 1 billion dollars
not saying you're wrong but you have to take into account all the fucking maintenance costs of keeping steam up and running, which probably eats into a lot of profits. (along with other business expenditures)
I think it's the same as the Half Life problem as I call it. They made sooo much money by not even doing anything anymore, that they now dosen't have any motivation to do anything. I mean why spend my time to make content when they are so rich even their grand children's life is paid at this point. They only going to make better content if the flow of money slows down, or I wouldn't be surprised if neither then.
Sure you mentioned cases, operation passes etc. from what valve can make money, but you forgot one more thing; the game itself. You need to pay for it in order to play it aka what we have prime now. So imagine all steam accounts which bought csgo or prime how much money that would be.
