OG is so much darker (and I don’t mean the lighting)… I like it better.

  2. Midget1987

Original is far better in every way, I don’t understand the way theyve gone with the new design

Oh, great. I thought i saw it like, what… 2000000 in a row before?

This rage bait needs to stop.

I’m glad Harley’s shoulders don’t look like they are popping out on the right.

Both look fine to me, one is just more “latex dominatrix” and the other is “comic con cosplay”.

  5. I am so sick of seeing this exact same post over and over.

  6. Same developer, but a lot of the talent from back then jumped ship(including the 2 founders).

Rocksteady is tainted goods now. Any doubts are put to rest by this looter model and Sweet Baby Inc. being attached to this project. Those examples and others mark a complete departure from the overall soul of the Arkhamverse.

Orginal has a more sinister dark vibe, the new one looks stupid.

I guess ray tracing can’t fix bad design huh

  9. I feel like this post is another sign of what gaming has come to.

I know there’s a big hype on Palworld and people are sick of hearing it, but the reason that Palworld is successful is because it gave gamers what they wanted. Palworld is what people were looking for in a Pokemon game. The reason why Pokemon hasn’t delivered such a product is because they know their player base and knew that they could edge their player base with tiny upgrades with each new release and make a substantial profit off of it.

This is also apparent here. Why create a better product when you have little competition in your corner? Current game franchises have been making side-grade products and it is what we are now conditioned to. Games used to get better. That’s what is supposed to happen as technology advances. Yet when a developer corners a market and has no competitors, stagnation happens.

In ecology, creatures don’t evolve without some form of pressure from an outside source. If an animal species has all the resources it needs in abundance, it will take much longer to evolve than when under stress. We are the resource that funds and sustains gaming companies, if you buy their games and youre not seeing improvement, stop buying from them. Then theyll be motivated to make better products.

TLDR: game developers will not make better content if people keep buying shit content. Your words don’t matter, the numbers do. Don’t buy from companies that aren’t improving.

Imagine if they reused all the assets, imagine the rage.

  11. proggybreaks

By contrast, it took just 11 years to go from Super Mario 3 to Shenmue. I still hope to see another revolution like that in my lifetime.

  12. BeerOfTime

The older one looks better. Newer looks more cartoonish

  13. Carrollmusician

What’s the point here? The two games have different art styles?

  14. fartboxco

The leather tension looks way more realistic on the old one.

  15. designer got paid the same as in 2015 and thats the result

  16. giving off big “we have harley quinn at home” vibes lol.

Suicide Squad: how to kill a franchise

  18. syntaxvorlon

Well, sure, you can see the progression of time in her collar becoming bigger and her costume got a nice belly-button flap, and probably got made out of a more breathable material and she remembered to wear underwear under it this time. Also she looks like she has make up on instead of skin that is naturally porcelain.

  19. Humboldteffect

How the greats have fallen, robocop is fun af tho.

  20. littletodd3

Lol this hilariously describes the progression of the gaming industry in a way

  21. Same developer. Same character.

Not the same costume. Or lighting. Or model. Or engine version. Or visual scope.

Additionally Arkham knight knocked it out the park with visual fidelity. This is just a weird way of deriding the game. We all know it’s a cash grab shallow game. But it’s exhausting when people highlight things that aren’t really the problem. reuse the same lighting and assets from Arkham knight would still suck.

  22. The advertisement in the shop vs what they send you

  23. Why do so many new games look so flat? Is it the textures or lighting? You look close and things are usually clearer but from regular viewing they all look so boring

  24. The5Virtues

I agree the AK model is better, but I vastly prefer the texture for the SS version of the costume. It looks more like an actual costume whereas the Arkham Knight one looks like a latex knockoff costume you buy in a sex shop.
