Did CS2 Ruin the AWP?

Counter-Strike 2’s release has felt… kinda bad, for many reasons.

But among all of CS2’s issues, compared to CS:GO, the AWP in particular just feels off. In fact, it’s been so bad that even the best player in the world has considered a role swap.

But is the iconic sniper rifle actually worse in CS2 — or is there something going on behind the scenes that’s affecting the game’s gunplay as a whole?

  1. I thought that the awp was too powerful in csgo. But now with peakers advantage being the way it is. You can easily be beat buy a rifler……😅 it's not a good look releasing a "new game" with same epidemic problems.

  2. Games terrible, and that’s why high level players hate it. Pros have to play it because they are paid to. And new players don’t understand what CSGO felt like. Hopefully 2024 Valve can remove subtick and revert it. Not working

  3. so basically cs go is what you see is what you get and cs2 is just nah you fired here but we show this instead

  4. I'd like to add my input as a 4k hour player.

In my opinion it all comes down to the shift in meta of the subtick. It isn't the awp that got worse, but other weapons got better. The way I see it is 64 tick headshots were hard and risky to land as models would appear out of sync, and counter strafes also appeared delayed. You needed more time and lesser distance to land a lethal shot. In contrast, awp always boasted of high accuracy at range and the ability to 1tap in the body (no need for inaccurate headshot attempts)
In addition, peeker's advantage was less heavy and awp didn't have damage inaccuracy. This made a stationary weapon such as awp quite more advantageous than in csgo than it is in cs2.
In cs2 the awp simply appears to be overkill for something other weapons can already do, and it is also pushed aback by its slow movement speed as well as impactful pricetag.
And last but not least, there was slight shock at launch as flicking has indeed become different. You now need to position your crosshair right in the body before shooting, whilst in csgo you would anticipate where the body would be in the next tick

  5. I didn't play this game in 3 months cuz of the subtick shit. I was tired to die behind the walls, delayed kills, shooting in the past die in the future, hits not register, very bad movement etc. Maybe the 128 tick is the solution and they will remove subtick

  6. Awp feels good offline as it did when i first tried it. Online is a whole different beast.

  7. AWP nerf is good to me. Pros will still dominate people with AWP anyway but at least in MM, i feel a little bit enjoyable with AWP being nerfed.

  8. Nothing can beat the 1.6 AWP it felt best by far. It was the strongest iteration but the feeling of it and how responsive it was was just mmmmmuah chefs kiss

  9. stop with the fake tick interpolation bs and give us the true 128 and better anti cheat….oh yes instead release a new case why not.

  10. The spinbot exploits a game mechanic that anyone could reproduce manually. You could do a 180 flick by shooting first, then flicking. CS2 got rid of that for good reason. It wasn't only an AWP problem. It was all the guns. That is why everything feels different because it is different.

  11. I think Simple just refuses to accept change and adapt. That's not new, many GOATs from 1.6 refused to change to Source and then later, to CSGO. Zywoo and Monesy showing top performances in the previous tournament just proves that the AWP is still a unit. C9 failed to contain AWPers of good teams at the Premier because they don't have one themselves.

  12. Once the gunfire spray is fixed to became as smooth as CSGO's gun spray, then the rest of other problem will be easier to deal with

  13. I used to flick with AWP and be up close and usually entry with Awp, even in CS:GO. I didn't like the change from 10 to 5 in the mag, but i got used to it and relied more on my secondary afterwards for quick aggresive awping.
But CS2 has just completely sucked the fun out of AWPing.
It just feel so stiff to play, doesn't feel sleek at Allllllll

  14. everything just feels slightly off in this game. feels like so many shots that should be hitting just don't. maybe cs:go had more forgiving hitboxes or something but something is off.

  15. Even the deag, i just dont have the smoothness that csgo provided, 1 taps are more of luck and that goes for all guns

  16. comparing 128 tick csgo servers to 64 tick cs2 servers is correct. They claimed sub tick removed the need for 128 tick servers and that it was even better than the faster speed.

  17. I think its a combination of both movement and general gunplay being off. If you go back to GO, everything feels much better, you feel like you are more precise and you have more control over your character.

  18. The Awp should stay this way, in my Low Elo Opinion the awp is a defensive sniper that should hold down angles and secure positions and not be like a kill anyone on anyrange with one shot weapons

  19. I don't think the nerf is bad, the awp is in a good place. They should just make it cheaper.
It's not really worth the investment with mr12 unless you're really good with it.

  20. It was the same thing with most guns when people made the transition from 1.6 to GO, specially the AK-47, not only the spray pattern changed but also the delay and recoil/weapon stability.
