PCU make pop noise

So PCU pops and gives off a flash when power is tuned on for it. Plus a small green piece of shrapnel feel out, probably form some internal diodes. PC still powered on tho.

Id get it RMA’d it could kill your entire pc tbh. Plus its a VERY expensive psu it shouldnt be doing that

Don’t know wtf you want to hear but you better replace that asap if you don’t want to fry your components or burn your house down

  3. Its stil good ! TO FUCKING TROW IT IN THE GARBAGE

  4. Robsteady

How is your initial reaction not to just throw it TF out or file an RMA?

  5. Zaphod392

So it will keep your whole house warm too! When it catches fire.

  6. BlastMode7

Yeah… don’t connect anything to it. It should no longer be trusted, but the HX1000i is an A-tier PSU and might still be under warranty, so you should attempt to RMA to Corsair.

  7. That would be a short. RMA if you can but absolutely don’t use it

  8. Help-Royal

What’s is wrong? It is a jet powered PSU. That is the ignition spark. Everybody knows that jet fuel can’t melt steel. You’re safe OP.

  9. That thing is absolutely **FUCKED** the green peaces are part of an exploded electrolytic capacitor.

    DONT USE THIS THING!

  10. Deathcounter0

Do you have a fire extinguisher in your house somewhere? Might want to dust that off and check the experation date (even regardless of the PCU, and even you reading this comment should do this).

you guys risk way too much for the sake of karma, man

It’s got that Corsair quality. I’ve had 2 bad PSUs, a bad stick of RAM and 2 RGB keyboards go bad with this company.

  13. Maybe try getting a properly functioning PSU and not using some whackjob PCU.

  14. Zerleodon

Ya this is a PSU and I would for sure get a new one. That thing can potentially cause some serious damage

Do not power your rig up with that it’s asking to release the magic smoke….

  16. MysteryR11

Just a wild guess looks like it’s overloading or something like that so it’s just kicking it out. Your power supply might not be powerful enough or maybe too powerful I know that’s a thing. Take a look at your requirements for all your stuff wattage.

If you step through it, you’ll see a bright orange flash around 1 second into the video. That’s an arc discharge. Through the air. This is very bad and I suspect corsair wants this back (or at least destroyed) no matter how old it is.

  18. sounds good to me put it back in, bench the PC for 12 hours and leave the house to work in the meantime

  19. yeah totally normal sound, i wouldn’t worry about it

  20. PSU = Power Supply Unit… PCU is a Law school in Long Beach.

You blew something inside, replace it.

  21. RickkyyBobby

I Feel like OP’s the type of person to open up that thing, with 0 knowledge of what’s actually inside, and they’ll end up electrocuting themselves.

  22. Ah yes, the pcu, my favorite pc composed, also, that piece of green. Shrapnel that feel out is nothing to worry about /j

  23. My Corsair did that. It was second hand. “Ex-display”.

Built my first PC. First turn on. “POP!”

Pulled out popping PSU. RMA request to Corsair. Was completely honest. Provided eBay receipt as proof of purchase.

Corsair rep replied “welcome to the family” RMA request approved. They upgraded me to that years model, fully modular, 100w increase over the unit I bought.

I’ll never buy a PSU from another manufacturer.

Replace it with a more reputable brand and a better 80 PLus rating get anything above Bronze and Silver.

  25. Iwantmyusertobehex

It’s just the backfire system, it must have a lot of horsepower

  26. Bruh

DO NOT power on that PSU anymore. It is clearly faulty.
